As part of the preparation for the BEO the participating teams will choose a social issue which is at the heart of their school and/or community. They will plan and undertake a local media campaign combining traditional and social
media to raise awareness of this issue in their local community.
The presentation should include, but is not limited to, the following areas:• Reasons for choosing specific media channels• Organisation of the project• The project itself• The project objectives and outcomes• Your personal reflection on and evaluation of the project

General BEO Guidelines
Students are between 12 and 16 years old at the time of the BEO event (born between 01.05.1996 and 31.12.2001.
Students registered for the BEO must participate in at least two and a maximum of five BEO competitions, excluding the events of the BEO final.
Exceptions are possible for teams with fewer than ten students upon approval by the Senior Academic Manager ([email protected]) prior to the start of the BEO.

Every effort is made to ensure that all teams are judged by the same judges in each individual competition.

Time limits and penalties
A grace period is applied for the first 10 seconds below the minimum time limit, e.g. 7:50 to 7:59.
Penalty of 1 point for every ten seconds below the minimum time minus grace period, e.g. 7:40 to 7:49 = 1 point, 7:30 to 7:39 = 2 points.
A maximum of 10 penalty points is awarded for not meeting the minimum time of the presentation.
If a team takes longer than the maximum time limit plus 30 seconds, a 5 point penalty is applied and the team is not allowed to finish the
presentation.
