Objectives and mission

• Organise operational coordination of fisheries control and inspection activities by MS.

• Assist MS to cooperate in complying with the CFP rules.

• Ensure effective and harmonised application of the CFP rules.

• Ensure a level playing field in Community fisheries.

• Combat IUU fishing.

• Formulates policy.

• Provides financial assistance.

• Verifies implementation of Community rules.

• Negotiates agreements with 3rd countries and in the framework of Regional Fisheries Organisations.

• Council Reg. 1941/2006 (Annex III) requires Member States to carry out joint inspection and surveillance activities co-ordinated by the CFCA.

Preparation of the plan

• Analysis of fishing and landing activity in order to identify where and when fishing takes place.

• Deployment of inspection means: The MS with extensive inspection means have to support MS with less means.

• The CFCA will consult with the Baltic RAC next week.
