BALDWIN STREET MIDDLE SCHOOLOctober 20, 2017
Banner Newsletter
Hi everyone,
If you missed the School Messenger email sent out this week, on Monday, October 23, 2017, students at BMS will have an
opportunity to hear Jeff Veley speak. "Through clean comedy, inspiring real-life stories, and evidence-based techniques, Jeff
shares social and emotional coping skills that helped him overcome bullying. He shares how treating his enemies like friends
transformed his life after years of being picked on at school and abused at home" (www.jeffveley.com). We are excited to have
Jeff bring this message of resilience and strategies for peacemaking to our students.
This opportunity to hear Jeff Veley comes from two of our district’s S.O.A.R. III goals, developed from the 2016-17 stakeholder
survey information, to address the social and emotional needs of students. Those goals state we will be working to:
1. Determine resources to support students’ social and emotional well-being
2. Expand student capacity through the development of problem-solving skills to create a school environment that is safe for
all and addresses bullying behavior
For more information about Jeff Veley, please go to his website, www.jeffveley.com, or speak with Mrs. Haberling or Mr. Olson.
