ocated just south of Flin Flon, Bakers NarrowsProvincial Park consists of 145 hectares ofPrecambrian boreal forest. An angler’s retreat, thepark is hidden in the vast mixed forest of coniferousand deciduous trees of the Canadian Shield. Thecampground can accommodate those who want tocamp individually or in larger groups.
Lake Athapapaskow, with its clear blue waters, offersnot only tranquility, but also excellent trout andwalleye fishing. The name “Athapapuskow” means“rocks on both sides” or “rocks all around” in theCree language. Travel the waters by canoe or motorboat to see if you can spy great blue herons, double-breasted cormorants, or common loons. In additionto the many types of birds who live in the park, youmay also find yourself upon the trail of a moose,mink, or beaver.
The Bakers Narrows scenic tower offers spectacularviews of the forest, rock outcrops and crystal clearwaters. Surrounded by the deep, yet vibrant greensand blues of the landscape, read the tower’sinterpretive signage to learn how the history of thearea was influenced by those who utilized the area’sresources, from early inhabitants to modern industry.Driving east from the park will lead you to nearbyGrass River Provincial Park. While you are there,hike the Karst Spring self-guiding trail.
Bakers Narrows campground provides sheltered,private campsites which have either electrical orbasic service. Centralized showers, modernwashrooms, as well as group use & picnic areas arealso available. The beaches in the campgroundprovide swimming opportunities, and playgroundequipment is located throughout the campground.Hiking, boating, wildlife viewing, photography, andfishing opportunities await. The boat launch giveseasy access to those wishing to be on the water.
Those interested in the Flin Flon industry sector cantour the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Companythroughout the summer.

Campground Tips• Be sure matches are extinguished.
Break them in half beforediscarding.
• Build no fires except in adesignated firepit or use a campstove. Before leaving make sureyour fire is completely out.
• Be careful with your cigarettes,cigars and pipe ashes. Crush themthoroughly before discarding.Never toss them from a vehicle.
• Please! Do not litter.
• Be sensitive to wildlife. Bears canbe dangerous and should not befed. Food must be stored awayfrom your campsite, preferablyin a locked vehicle, to avoidattracting hungry animals. Do notstore food in your tent.
• Warm clothing is needed forcool nights.
• The use of insect repellent will addto your comfort.
• Learn to recognize and avoidpoisonous plants such as poisonivy.
• In case of injury or illness contacta Campground Attendant or ParkPatrol Officer. They can assist youto reach medical help.
• Canoeists and hikers travelling inbackcountry areas should advisea friend of their intendeddestination and anticipated lengthof trip.
• Backcountry camping is onlyallowed at designated campsites.
• It is illegal to use or transportelm firewood.
