IIT Delhi researchers develop first of its kind machine learning software Researchers at IIT Delhi have developed a first of its kind machine learning software Python for Glass Genomics (PyGGi) for predicting and optimizing glass compositions. The machine learning software PyGGi was launched on August 2, 2019 at IIT Delhi during an event on "Developments in Machine Learning for Material Informatics". PyGGi will allow researchers and companies to easily predict glasses with superior properties like scratch resistance and crack resistance at the tap of a button.Prof N. M. Anoop Krishnan (Civil EnggDept, IIT Delhi), one of the Project Investi-gaunrs (FI) sahd, “Umdersuamdhmg and predicting the composition–structure–property relationship is the key to developing novel glasses such as bullet proof and scratch resistant glasses. Data-driven approaches such as machine learning and artificial intelligence can exploit our existing knowledge to predict
glasses for tailored applications. PyGGi is a software package developed using python, for predicting and optimizing the prnperuhes nf hmnrgamhc gkasses.” The main aim of PyGGi is to reduce the cost in predicting new glasses for tailored applications. This is going to make glass development cheap and affordable. Prof Hariprasad Kodamana (Chemical Engg Dept, IIT Delhi) who is the second PI of the prniecu sahd, “FzGGh xhkk te constantly updated and upgraded to meet the industrial and academic challenges in the field of glass science. We are also open to developing raw modules based on user requirements. These modules can be exclusively given to users who support the research in FzGGh.” The team will work on new capabilities that are relevant to customer requirements and indus-trial needs.

Er Ritesh Nagar Water scarcity and their effects on India
“Water is The Driving Force of all Nature” Water
scarcity is one of the biggest issues now a day‟s in India.
There are many reasons like poor management of water
resources; lack of conservation, city sewage
and industrial waste discharged into the rivers and lack
of government attention. According to present data the
India has 18% of the world's population and has access
to only 4%of the utilizable water from various
sources. The National Institution for Transforming
India (NITI Ayog), Government of India has released
report on „Composite Water Management Index‟ in June
2018 it listed Bangalore, Delhi and other 20 cities in
India which would not have groundwater by 2020. The
given data have reported that in the past decade it
represent how annual per capita availability of water in
India. This report also point out that more around 163
million of Indians are does not have access to
safe drinking water. In addition, population growth in
states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar
Pradesh is associated with great scarcity depletion.
The Monsoon season in India have only four month,
during this period it‟s our responsibility for water
recharge. Now the several led initiative have been taken
to fight this big cause in our country. In India the Indian
government and UNICEF have a joint project in Palve
Budruk village, which is located in the drought-prone
Parner Block in Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra,
developed a catchment plan covering 1,435 hectares,
South Korean SIS Seoul International School is
fundraising to bring water to India. They have also
started building a strong community for the water crisis
in India, the Canadian start-up Decode Global has
developed the mobile game named “Get Water!”, a game
for social change focusing on the water scarcity in India
and their effect on girl‟s education. The game's primary
goal is to raise awareness of the water crisis, by
educating children as well as adult gamers. The Indian
government also forms a department for enforcement of
the regulatory directions issued under Section 5 of Envi-
ronment (Protection) Act, 1986 called “Central Ground
Water Authority” (CGWA) which have duty to monitor
and take steps. Department has notified around 82
areas (Districts, Blocks, Mandals, Talukas, Municipali-
ties) for regulation of groundwater development.
So, the time has come to take action against this cause
and there are various methods to conserve the rainy wa-
ter by Spreading Basins, Recharge Pits and Shafts,
Ditches, Recharge Wells, Harvesting in reservoir from
Hill Sides, Subsurface Dams, Farm Ponds, and Large
Well across Streamlet and Check Dams.
As from famous proverb “Water is the most critical
resource issue of our lifetime and our children‟s lifetime.
The health of our waters is the principal measure of how
we live on the land.” – Luna Leopold
Madhya Pradesh Oriental University, Indore
22July2019
Oriental University, Indore has organized
GST seminar in association with Govern-
ment initiative of GST Outreach – Sensi-tizing students to GST on 22nd July 2019
at Pharmacy Auditorium, Oriental
University, Indore. Mr. Mahesh Kumar
Yadav, Dy Director, National Academy
of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics,
Bhopal was the were the chief guests on
the occasion resource person for this
event. Mr. Mahesh Kumar Yadav has
explained the present and past tax
structure and need for GST for the Indian
economy. The event was graced by Prof.
(Dr.) Dhruva Ghai – Vice Chancellor, Oriental University Indore along with
Prof. (Dr.) Garima Ghai – Dean
Academics and Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Jain
– Dean Research.
Mr. Mahesh Kumar Yadav, Dy Director,
National Academy of Customs, Indirect
Taxes & Narcotics, Bhopal has discussed
and explained the following points
Firstly, while the present system allows
for a multiplicity of taxes being collected through an inefficient and nontransparent
system, the introduction of GST is likely
to rationalize it and thereby plug the
Seminar on GST Outreach Sensitizing loopholes in this system. This will enable
the government to stop pilferage and
rationalize the overall taxation regime.
While many areas are either under-taxed
or non-taxed or over-taxed, the GST will help reduce the overall tax burden of
m a n y o r g a n i z a t i o n s .
Introduction of an integrated Goods and
Services Tax (GST) to replace the
existing multiple tax structures of Centre
and State taxes is not only desirable but
imperative in the emerging economic
environment. Increasingly, services are
used or consumed in the production and
distribution of goods and vice versa.
Separate taxation of goods and services
often requires splitting of transactions value into a value of goods and services
for taxation, which leads to greater
complexities, administration and
c o m p l i a n c e s c o s t s
Further, the Indian economy is getting
more and more globalized. In recent
times, a number of Free Trade
Agreements (FTAs) have been signed,
which will allow imports into India duty
-free or at very low duties. Hence, there is
a need to have a nation-wide simple and transparent system of taxation to enable
the Indian industry to compete not only
internationally, but also in the domestic
market. Integration of various Central and
State taxes into a GST system would
make it possible to give full credit for
inputs taxes collected. GST being a
destination-based consumption tax based
on VAT principle, would also greatly
help in removing economic distortions
caused by present complex tax structure
and will help in the development of a common national market.
