UPDATES ON OFFICE OPERATIONS
o Monthly Report Attached.
o Purple Important Papers holders – Zion Township distributes these to residents who come in for assistance, as it is crucial to keep key documents together.
o Zion Township is partnering with a number of agencies to make Senator Melinda Bush’s Annual Job Fair even better. The Job Fair will be on Wednesday, September 13th at the Zion Park District Sports Arena. Zion Township is coordinating a Job Fair Preparation Day. It will be held at Grace Missionary Church on Wednesday, September 6th from 9am til noon. Notices will go out shortly!
o Computer upgrade: We are looking to replace the
Case Manager’s computer, which is having issues. It is a 2009 computer.
o LIHEAP: Officially ended on May 31, 2017 and will
begin again in September. Township staff are setting up dates to visit Senior buildings in the community to process applications.
o Summer Work Program is officially over! Thanks to
Trustee Chris Fischer for attending the awards dinner! SWP Newsletter is attached.
o Congressman Schneider & Senator Bush will have
staff providing office hours at Zion Township the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 2-‐4pm
o Conversation with Benton Township on
consolidation concept began 8/15/17.
BOARD SPECIFIC ISSUES
Ø Supervisor Neal met with Nicasa Executive Director, Bruce Johnson to discuss Nicasa providing services at Zion Township with the closing of Pearce Campus.
Ø We will be terminating our current VEBA
medical insurance policy through HRB solutions. Effective September 1, 2017, employees will be covered under a Humana PPO policy through Leech Bridges Inc. This change will allow for improved customer service and claims processing, widely accepted insurance, and a local insurance broker.

DeTienne and Trustee Fischer for attending the Township Officials Boot Camp.
OTHER OFFICE OPERATIONS
Ø Elf Network: Township staff will begin to work on offering a new structure to the program for applicants.
Ø Jubilee Parade: Zion Township will have a
table with information to hand out.
Ø Community of Character Walk: Will be on September 14th, Zion Township will again participate.
