FEATURING:
ATM @ Beach Street, or All Things Malaysian, is an all-encompassing celebration of the best of Malaysia - from traditional to contemporary arts, cultures, foods, films, performances, and trades. During this event, Penang’s Lebuh Pantai will be transformed into a festival, with vendors, performers and pop-ups taking to the streets to share their unique culture with locals and tourists alike. For one day, festivalgoers can partake in these wonderfully Penang festivities while enjoying the sights of the city’s oldest heritage streets.
Founded in 2013 by Achtung KL Studio, Tempatan Fest will bring the country’s very best independent clothing brands and designers together in one place for the first time in Penang. This day-long event will give visitors the opportunity to support young entrepreneurs by purchasing quality merchandise from all over Malaysia.
KL Sketchnation is a community of sketching enthusiasts who hope to get people inspired and interested in sketching their urban surroundings. Join them at ATM!
Firm believers in the old saying that you should never judge a book by its cover, the three bookworm curators of My Date Is A Book sell all their books in special wrapping, with no titles or covers revealed but only a quote written in front. This exciting new way of buying books gives customers a chance to try out new titles they may have looked over before.
Have you ever wanted to know the secret behind preparing the perfect shot of espresso? Join brewmaster Joey Mah and his team of coffee professionals for two great workshops, and indulge your inner barista! Registration is required for this event.
Founded by Fairul “Roy” Nizam and Amir Hifaz, Maple Comics publishes graphic novels created by and for Malaysians. Their distinctly local flavour of storytelling features both nonfiction and fiction tales, and includes a travelogue of Terengganu, created by freelance illustrator Mimi Mashud. Maple Comics and Mimi Mashud will sell their comics at ATM – pick one up and let your imagination wander!

A month-long photographic exhibition by Paris-based Malaysian Diana Lui, Totem features fifteen modern-day portraits of women from all over Malaysia dressed in traditional costumes. This thoroughly contemporary photography project expertly fuses past and present ideas of femininity and the roles women play within each strikingly beautiful image.
Malaysian-born Singapore visual artist Sandra Lee finds inspiration for her work in fairy tales and characters born out of a vivid imagination. Through magical imagery, Lee’s work addresses issues of population growth, the role of women in society, relationships, and other personal topics that will undoubtedly resonate with the viewer.
In this series of nine video vignettes, artist Sherman Wong mingles fables of the Nusantara – an Indonesian word meaning “archipelago” – with contemporary dilemmas concerning migration and diaspora. The short films explore the effects of origin and ancestry on our collective identity, and in so doing provide a meaningful connection between past and present.

rehab
A collaborative dance featuring two distinctly skilled performers, rehab uses movement to tell the story of two individuals in seemingly similar positions who grapple with the concepts of rebirth, renewal, release, recovery, and ultimately rediscovery. Soulful, artistic and invigorating, this short performance is sure to inspire its audience.
Hidup ini Senget provides an all-encompassing sensory experience for the audience, using a fascinating combination of percussion, physical movement and theatrical elements to tell its intriguing story of a young man growing up in Kuala Lumpur. The show redefines traditional theatre by pairing it with the raw and primitive sounds of the drum.
Take in the wonderful folk theatre tradition of the Minangkabau ethnic group, which incorporates music, singing, dance, drama, and the martial art of Silat. Randai will be performed as a “theatre-in-the-round” to achieve unity between performers and their audience.
Listen to the sounds of didgeridoos, flutes and drums at the fourth annual gathering of the Malaysia Didgeridoo and Percussion Collective.
