Assessment for Learning
Assessment is integral to all teaching and learning. It is central to the PYP goal of thoughtfully and effectively guiding students through the five essential elements of learning: ❖ the acquisition of knowledge❖ the understanding of concepts❖ the mastering of skills❖ the development of attributes and the decision to take action.
An important component of assessment in the PYP is to provide feedback on the learning process.

Report Card: Unit of Inquiry
Students receive a grade for each Unit of
Inquiry. The grade is based on how well a
student applied their new knowledge,
understandings and skills during the course
of the unit. The number of Units of Inquiry in
a year will vary according to grade level.
● G1 - G5: Six Units of Inquiry
● Kinder: Five Units of Inquiry
● Nursery and Pre-Kinder: Four Units of
Inquiry (2 are year long units)
