Began as Orbital Debris Satellite
Platform to test satellite systems
Mission Objectives:• Capture and store images
of the Earth’s surface
• Monitor and control
payload temperatures
• Receive and interpret
ground commands

Results
• Successful launch April 6, 2008• Traveled 64 miles• Maximum Altitude of 101,466 ft
• Camera worked for 34 mins• Captured a total of 68 pictures
• C&DH battery torn off

Future Goals
The primary goal of SWE BalloonSat is to launch Embry-Riddle’s first student-built satellite.
BalloonSat is the one first steps in developing a reconfigurable payload capable of launching into space.
Next steps• expand the payload’s capabilities• include a prototype orbital debris sensor
