Attention Leaders: the Langlade County 4-H Project Discovery Day is just around the
corner. This famous and fun morning-long event provides exposure to a variety of projects.
If you have a project or activity that you would like to see promoted, demonstrated, or just
plain shown off, please consider sharing your talents and lending a hand on February
11th, Peace Lutheran School. (Letters will be mailed to Leaders soon, for obtaining
information about your workshop/s, number of participants, age of participants, cost per
participant, special needs like number of tables, closeness to a sink, etc. so, be watching
for your letter in the mail.) You will have a choice of leading the activity for one session or
repeating it again at the second session. Also, if your project is more in depth, you may
choose to hold it all morning long.
Remember: It’s great if you can include youth in a leadership role with your project, too!
If interested in leading a project please contact Karalee at 715-627-6238

Of the Month We are very proud of the effort and generosity of Langlade County 4-H in our first ever attempt at construct-ing something out of only food and personal care items in the Thrivent Cans Hunger competition. Although the structure may not have turned out quite as we had envisioned, it was a great learning experience and we have ideas for next year. Our main goal was to be able to donate a wide variety of products to the Food Pan-try which were on their "wish list" and we definitely accomplished that. Five youth came early on a Saturday morning to construct a #4-HGrown tree out of the products available to them and they did a great job work-ing together to get it done in just 2 hours! One commented, "I never thought I would be doing this in 4-H, but then again I never thought I would be doing a lot of things that I have done in 4-H" which highlights the great opportunities 4-H has to offer! Thank you to the Langlade County 4-H Leader's Association, Deerbrook Eager Beavers, Phlox Flames, Tree Toppers, Mayflower, and the Trabant McKenna family for the monetary donations and to all of the individual families who donated items for our tree structure. We will be donating over 722 items to the food pantry including more than 72 boxes of tissue, 39 jars of pea-nut butter, 54 boxes of macaroni and cheese, 125 personal care items, 70 packets of oatmeal, 300 canned goods, 29 bags of rice and beans, 12 bags of pasta, 14 packages of individual applesauce cups, and a few other items. In the picture from left to right are Sam Schuessler, Pia Spychalla, Evelyn LeVeque, Abbi Noskowiak, and Robby Hagerty kneeling.
