LES HALLESPLAYGROUND
BASE STUDIO
From January 2014 to September 2015, I have employed as a
full-time architect at BASE, a vibrant multidisciplinary practice
working on architecture, urban and landscape design. I had
the opportunity to deal with a numerous and varied projects
(with nature, location or duration).
The respected reputation of the company allowed me to
work alongside renown architects such as BIG architects,
OMA and Architecture Studio, on different phases of projects
(competition, design phases, construction work etc.).
I had the opportunity to work on different scales of projects,
from the small structure (pavilions in Albania, playground
structures in Paris, sheds in Martinique etc.) to urban planifi-
cation: Volga district regeneration in Martinique, Clichy-sous-
Bois and the master planning of Villetaneuse (both situated in
the Parisian suburbs). This experience brought me a fruitful
global approach and experience of the profession of archi-
tect and allowed me to expand my fields of interest to ano-
ther level.
LES HALLES PLAYGOUND
Three different practices were invited to take part in this
competition. Les Halles, the former “stomach” of Paris and
now the popular central hub of the French capital has been
the centre of a big renovation project since 2010. Alongside
the master green canopy building, the new playground is to
become a main local and tourist destination and will act as a
showcase for the capital.
The project proposes the creation of 5 objects that prompt
the culinary side of Paris; whilst letting the shapes be deter-
mined by the imagination of the children. Particular attention
was given to the material of the structures; panels of white
galvanised steel. This was planned to protect the sobriety of
the place, reflecting the surrounding area.

WATERFRONT REGENERATIONOF VLORË
Situated along the Adriatic Sea, Albania boasts an excep-
tional geographical situation and with it, wishes to boost its
economy linked to tourism. The city of Vlorë is located in the
south of the country and has more than 120,000 inhabitants.
Its history and the dynamism of its harbour make it one of the
most important cities of Albania.
The strategic mutation of its seaside resort is a major game
changer for the tourism in the country. Atelier Albania pro-
posed a competition for the regeneration of the Vlorë wa-
terfront that stretches along 5km of coastline. The project
required a solution for the summer of 2014, when the urban
development master plan for 2050 was initiated. This project
is seen as an intervention model for 4 other Albanian sites.
The project focuses both on the economic issues related to
tourism and on the landscape significantly tied to the history
and values of the region.
The natural coast supports the preservation of the lands-
cape and the limitation of the urban development. This first
sequence also concerns the fundamental presence of shade,
plants and soil protection for a typical Mediterranean area.
The second sequence is a vast area dedicated to pedes-
trians, which extends towards the city centre to the new ma-
rina. This is the main entrance of Vlorë. The central building,
“The Adriatic Rooftop”, gathers different recreational activi-
ties together (shops, restaurants, hotels, etc.) and acts as a
symbol for the regeneration of the coast and the city. Its roof-
top terrace extends and elevates the public space to offer a
panoramic view of the entire bay and the city.
The final sequence features an elegant articulation of the
city with its beach, thanks to the boardwalk running along
the beach that allows an observation of the city’s topography.

URBANREGENERATIONVILLETANEUSE
Villetaneuse, a disadvantaged city, part of the Saint-Denis
area (Greater Paris) has foregone a deep regeneration since
2012. The city has a population of around 12,000 people and
is the host of one of the main universities of Paris that hosts
about 15,000 students and teachers. This project consists of
the reunification of the city with its university that is still sepa-
rated from it today. After elaborating a master urban plan, the
project focuses on three different key areas that will embody
the regeneration of the city: three disadvantaged areas that
the project focuses on in order to help them secure govern-
mental support.

After my master’s graduation, I had the chance to work with
the Atelier Nicolas Reymond in 2014, laureate of the AJAP
(Young Architects Album prize delivered by French the
ministry of culture). The studio was invited to work on this
closed competition by I3F. The project consists in the design
of 100 housing units and a commercial premise in Noisy-le-
Grand, a city located in the Greater Paris.
The housing units are divided in three squared plots that are
COLLECTIVE HOUSINGNOISY-LE-GRAND
aligned on the road. The apartments benefit from large ope-
nings on the street angles. On the courtyard side, the plots
are unbalanced with a 45° angle in order to catch the best
enlighten. The latter shape is conserved above the 6 and 4
storeys street-aligned buildings and reach to 10 storeys. This
balancement allows the apartment to catch views and better
lights, and preserved the human scale feeling from the street.

I spent three months working for JTB architecture practice in
2012. During this period, I had the opportunity to work on dif-
ferent housing projects, in different phases of development.
The project in Stains, in the suburb of Paris, is a residential
design with 39 housing units distributed in two building
blocks. This project is part of a wider master plan for the city
of Stains that aims to reintegrate the anarchical repartition of
council housing blocks built in the second part of the 20th
century.
Thus, this project involved the creation of a building block
COLLECTIVE HOUSING STAINS
that is enclosed by the two existing snake-like council
houses. The project reaffirms a connection with the main
road in proposing a highest density alignment along Nelson
Mandela Avenue.
The granted budget didn’t allow for extravagant propositions,
therefore, the project gives a particular relish to the finishing
touches. The alcoves and the window chassis are made of
golden brushed-metal elements, contrasting with the smooth
white façade.

THEGLASGOW GREEN MILEJURY’S CONGRATULATIONS
SETTINGPROFESSORTEAMYEAR
Graduation project ( jury congratulations)Patrick LeitnerPatrick Moyal2013
This landmark building project has been incorporated into
the political framework of the Clyde Waterfront Regeneration
Project in Glasgow and responds to the 3 fundamental crite-
ria of the project: it is central, accessible and visible.
The mile-long Glaswegian district of Tradeston suffered from
the Bruce Report policies of the 1960s and is now isolated
from the rest of the city, partly due to the construction of in-
frastructure around it and to a lack of urban policy in the area.
Tradeston incarnates the missing link between the city cen-
tre and the Southside. The main goal of this project was to
develop ways of reorganising the urban fabric of the area
using non-traditional urban planning devices. A “soft” urban
development strategy was employed, better suited to the
temporality of the city of Glasgow.
The “Green Mile” project offers Tradeston the opportunity to
secure a central position in Glasgow and assume its role as
a substantial area of green urban development. The Green
Mile is home to workshop zones, experimental development
projects and showcase areas for renewable energy.
The landmark building is used as the focus of the regener-
ation, designed to have both international significance and
a real local impact. Thus, in its shape and in its function, the
Sustainable Factory, at the top of the Green Mile, will embody
a sustainable image of the city and its inhabitants.

GLASGOW’S MILES BETTER
dissertation / Master 2S. Nava 2012-20135 months
One of the main focuses of my final year project was the im-
portance of the image of the city in its development. I chose
to support my dialogue by focusing on the case study of the
city of Glasgow that has been particularly affected by the
closure of industries and factories and hence its reputation
has suffered. The written part of the dissertation proposes
a definition of the image of a city, examining the different
factors that determine a city’s image and demonstrate the
importance of its role in urban development. I completed my
dissertation by making a short film entitled « Glasgow’s Miles
Better », telling a story of a man who travels through the his-
tory of Glasgow in one day, can be found here:

PARIS RING ROADCITY
Studio / Master 2Office, housingCarlo Aslan Aria Annunziata2012-2013
This project focused on the nature and the values of the Parisian ring road (boulevard périphérique). Based on a plastic and metaphysic approach, the project consists of the development of an alterna-tive space beyond the boulevard. This progressive installation transforms the actual battlement of Paris as an experimental territory for a new urban development, dedicated to social interactions. Offices, parks or houses will inhabit this boundary that is in a constant mutation. The physical and mental boundary that consists of the
boulevard will not only be progressively erased but the ring road will constitute a new hub and a new attraction for the metropolis. This will partici-pate in the reconciliation of Paris and its suburbs. The project focused on going beyond utopian ideologies to which, the latter emerged progres-sively by taking care of structural principles and taking a sensitive approach towards the materials used.

Project / Master 1Public buildingP. Germe20123 months
The project consisted of the design of a city hall for the new
conurbation community of Plaine Commune. The project ga-
thers 8 adjacent cities around Saint-Denis area together, in
the north of the Parisian metropolis.
The exceptional location of the project is comparable with a
micro peninsula, surrounded by the Seine River to the west,
and by the Saint-Denis canal to the east. The project site is
close to the RER station (high-speed train service linking Paris
to the suburbs) and is surrounded by several infrastructures;
two A-roads and a railway.
One of the main challenges of the project was to enhance
the existing qualities of the site. The design of a new secon-
dary road across the plot was the first operation of the pro-
ject. This new road fulfilled several functions; it justifies the
conservation of an atypical and elegant 1970’s building on-
site, it unblocks the bridgehead in the direction of the Saint-
Denis Island district, and allows the division of the large plot.
The Canal Side of the plot is a garden, which fits into the
future project as a linear forest, dilating around the canal.
On the Seine side, the triangular plot is understood as a ho-
mothecy of the peninsula and contains the Conurbation Hall.
The building is constituted with two V-wings, linked together
with a gallery that hangs over the Seine River. The building
is built on a stand, which is a central courtyard, opened on to
the river, allowing for views of the whole peninsula.
The offices of the elected members are situated in the
highest tower oriented towards the city. The counters and
the administration area are oriented towards the garden and
the canal. Those two entities are linked together by a core:
a real keystone, constituted by the council chambers, cere-
monial rooms, and their halls. The general public pass under
those entities to go to the administrative tower. The public
route is linear and cadenced by a succession of compression
and expansion.

NEXITYSHARED FLAT COMPETITION I (1st PRIZE)
SETTING
TEAMYEARDURATION
Open competition / NexityReflexion on shared apartments typologiesL. Chanteau, F. Huszar, P. Lefèvre20143 months
In 2013, Nexity, France’s leading property developer,
launched a series of competition with a focus on finding in-
novative solutions for the context of shared apartments.
The first competition consisted in the design of three dif-
ferent apartments’ typologies (2,3 and 4 bedrooms apart-
ments). The main goal here was to propose an innovative
solution to the different issues that can be produce the fact
of living within a group. The project had to take a particular
interest in bringing realistic solutions from the economic and
the architectural point of view. The project had to take into
account the notion of reversibility (with a view to resale), with
the design of apartments, which can be inhabited by classic
families.
This project brings a reflexion on the way to live between
community and individuality. It brings out the gradation from
the public space to the cosy sphere (bedrooms and ba-
throoms). The latter works independently thanks to a central
furniture: the “hearth furniture”, a keystone which allows to
divide an optimised living space.
My team won the first prize of the competition and was in-
vited to take part ( with the two other finalists ) at a second
close competition.

NEXITYSHARED FLAT COMPETITION II(1st PRIZE)
Subsequently, we were selected to enter a second competi-
tion to develop a “bill of specification” of original features that
would improve living conditions and space usage in shared
flats and buildings.
A shared-flat building is a fully-fledged typology; somewhere
between a classic apartment building and a student resi-
dence.
In order to imagine the forms and the living manners suitable
for this way of living, the project had to liberate itself from the
standards of the familial apartment and create new spatial re-
lations. The project had to show a good balance between the
spaces that express the community and those that express
the individuality.

The project put emphasis on key points in order to create, at
different scales, the spirit of a shared housing.
The entrance hall is the first transition step between the pu-
blic and the private space. This fundamental area is often un-
der appropriated by the users and relegated to a simple tran-
sition area. The reinforcement of its function and a delicate
architectural design will give another value to this keystone
area. (co-working spaces, library, launderette etc.)
The rooftop will be accessible to the whole building commu-
nity and will be open on a patio in order to create different
areas adaptable for different functions (shared garden, kit-
chen, tables, meeting rooms etc.)

STUDIO FLATMENILMONTANT
From the beginning of 2016, I have been working on renovating a
Parisian flat, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris.
This flat is the young landlord’s first purchase and the budget is li-
mited. His criteria were rather vague; therefore the opportunity to
propose a different and innovative design was seized, breaking
away from a standard Parisian flat refurbishment. Considering the
small size of this 2-room flat (35m2), an open planned studio was
proposed. Two long pieces of furniture inhabit the north and the

south façades, and contain the functional elements of the apartment:
storage units, tables, bathroom, bed etc. All the furniture is made of
wood. The kitchen is the only element detached from the façades
furniture, and leans on an existing central beam. The central cooking
base is made out of concrete, such as the existing floor under the
layer of linoleum. An elegant curtain allows for the separation of the
open plan space, and creates a cosy space for meeting around film
projections (the landlord works in the film industry).

the same volume replaces the existing aedicule. This pergola pro-
tects the symmetry of the rooftop with the other aedicule containing
the access to the rooftop.

VERNON’SAUGMENTEDLANDSCAPE
«VERNON SEMPER VIRET» is a fine concept but a complex
and contrasting identity.
RESILIENCE: let us give life back to the seine, let us re-spark
the engineering pride, the let us rewrite a chapter in the
cities history. By creating a new revitalized city, where eve-
rything is possible.
Nowadays, in Vernon, there is no central plan for the city,
although several projects undertaken by the municipality
are innovative and helpful, they are disconnected from the
others. Today, cities are complex, multifaceted, and in need
of constant renewal. Going beyond «frozen urban program-
ming», Vernon needs a clear and visionary boost to realize
its exceptional potential as a vibrant city. Before undertaking
a full urban renovation of the city and its buildings, Vernon
needs to be prepared to be transformed, therefore the main
energy of the city need to be tackled: the inhabitants.
By involving all stakeholders and resources in an assertive
municipal orchestration, a dedicated process is offered by
this international, flexible and delicate project proposal. The
proposal has been designed to be implemented in three
stages in order to initiate the major changes, prioritise sus-
tainability and ensure the project is able to evolve.
A new vision for Vernon! The new vision will have a double
focus and provide the city with an unforgettable experience.
We have defined two axes for the development of Vernon
that are foreseen to compliment and collaborate with one-
another: REJOINING THE SEINE and URBAN ENGINEERING.

Upside Town is both a projection room and a camera ob-
scura. This optical system – a black box with a small hole
– captures the light and projects a reversed image of the
surrounding landscape onto the inner wall in real time. The
space creates the impression of being inside a camera and
demonstrates the genesis of cinema.
The cinema is situated in the city as a large outdoor cov-
ered area. The architectural project combines formal and
constructive simplicity in order for it to be assembled and
disassembled quickly. Furthermore, the folded shape of the

cinema reflects the inner device.
The light V truss structure is made from bamboo segments, a
common material in this part of Senegal. The double layer of
stretched canvas allows for intense darkness inside the cine-
ma whilst allowing air to flow naturally into the space. Upside
Town undertakes to immerse the visitor in a sensory experi-
ence, enabling them to act as both spectator and participant
in the visual process.

ILLUSTRATION& GRAPHIC DESIGN
72
From a young age, illustration and numerous fields of visual
arts have impassioned me. I believe in the interaction of this
and my work in architecture: an expanded field of action al-
lows both arts fields to nourish each other.
In 2006, I created a collective – LED – that promoted artists
from the local scenes of Lille, Brussels and Paris. The collec-
tive set up exhibitions and parties until 2012. My role in the
LED COLLECTIVE& LA RAOUL
collective was the management of the visual identity of LED,
and the organisation of the economic viability.
I also had the chance to work on several graphic design pro-
jects. For instance, I took part in an exciting venture to launch
a new beer from Lille: La Raoul. I directed the whole visual
identity of the product, and La Raoul is progressively estab-
lishing itself as a flagship beer from the North of France.
