7 February 2004 APS Neutrino Study
APS Neutrino Study: Reactor Working Group
•Clear statement of physics potential of reactor experiments including non-1
topics
•Understand physics reach, cost, and timescale for different scenarios
Small (CHOOZ-2): fixed 10-ton detectors at 1.1 km baseline Medium: 50-ton detectors (Movable vs Fixed) Large: 250-1000 ton (single or multiple far detectors)
•For each scenario, describe defensible strategy for reaching theclaimed systematic uncertainty. (What will be needed to establish a signal?)
•How do these scenarios complement and compete with other reactorand accelerator experiments around the world?
Goals of Working group:

Meeting Plans
•Phone / video meeting in early April (immediately after “mid-course correction” meeting of working group leaders, study organizers)
•Two-day meeting on west coast in mid-May.
•Final general meeting of full APS study in late June.
