:: LOW VISION PRESENTATION NEW Monday, April 8 11am—GRA Low vision can cause difficulty in seeing detailed letters and numbers when reading, recognizing the slope of a curb, steps, facial features, and distinguishing between similar colors. Adults who have these problems may have trouble maintaining their independence and completing typical day-to-day activities. Occupational therapy practitioners advise people in home modification and preventing falls, and help clients in wellness techniques that may prevent injury and improve safety for people with low vision.

“EASTERN AUSTRALIA” Friday, April 5 | 7:30pm | GRA Presented by intrepid traveler Pat Khan. Join Pat as she and AAUW member, Karen Fillmore journeyed through Eastern Australia, visiting major cities including Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. Then going west, they take a not-to-be-missed trip to Alice Springs and Ayres Rock. Then see the inland chocolate kangaroos and visit an island off the coast where live the smallest penguins in the world -the 6” tall Little Blue Penguins!

“The Harvey Girls” - 1946
April 4, 2013—1.75 hr Starring Judy Garland, John Hodiak, Ray Bolger, Angela Landsbury, Preston Foster, and Kenny Baker. On a train trip to the Old West, Susan meets a cheery crew of young women who are traveling to open a Harvey House Restaurant at a remote whistle stop. She joins them. The girls battle corruption and jealousy in their new town, mostly through the use of show-stopping musical numbers created by Johnny Mercer and Harry Warren.
Brigadoon Musical - 1954 April 18, 2013—1.75 hr Gene Kelly and Van Johnson stumble across the enchanted town of Brigadoon, which appears from the Scottish mists only one day each century. Kelly falls for Cyd Charisse and must decide whether to leave the real world behind and take up permanent residence in Brigadoon—wonderful dancing to the music of Lerner and Loewe.

The firefighters from Station 6 on Shannon
Road have been invited to a series of
Firefighter Appreciation Luncheons in the Main
Dining Room. The Community Relations
Advisory Board Committee feels this would be
a great way to thank the firefighters for the
support they provide to The Terraces through
the year. The firefighters will be seated at large
tables in the dining room with residents, board
members and staff. All residents are
encouraged to come up to the firefighters and
thank them for their service and prompt
response to TLG. Three different dates are
scheduled to accommodate the three rotating
shifts who operate out of Station 6. We hope
you can all come and show your appreciation.
