Page 1: Api changes

Hi Team,

We are making some changes to the API Developer Program that we would like you to all be aware of. Over the past several years, many developers leveraged our open API program and built expe-riences that delivered value back to our members and LinkedIn. However, there were many others that created experiences we believe were not beneficial to the member and customer experience. This changes largely impact developers who are creating projects personally, and are not a Certified Development Partner or have not had a CDP exception. For you guys as partners that want to work with local developers, you can continue to do so but they will need to be given a CDP Exception by us before the development begins. Overview of what’s changing

Starting on May 12, 2015, we will be limiting the open APIs to only support the following uses:• AllowingmemberstorepresenttheirprofessionalidentityviatheirLinkedInprofileusingourProfile API. • EnablingmemberstopostcertificationsdirectlytotheirLinkedInprofilewithourAddtoProfile tools. • EnablingmemberstoshareprofessionalcontenttotheirLinkedInnetworkfromacrosstheWeb leveraging our Share API. • EnablingcompaniestoshareprofessionalcontenttoLinkedInwithourCompanyAPI.• AllotherAPIswillrequiredeveloperstobecomeamemberofoneofourpartnershippro-grams.You can read more on our blog post or on our Developer site.

As a reminder, we have also changed the minimum spend on API Projects. The new minimum deal size for API’s across all our smaller markets globally is 100K USD for media drivers. In our larger markets (UK, France, Netherlands) the min deal size will be 250K or higher. The reason for this change is that we have a much more rigorous approval process at LInkedIn for APIs moving forward, with more restrictions of what can be done with the APIs. We also want to ensure that the clients have enough budget to make the API successful, and as some of you know (who have created APIs in the past), 40K was not always enough to drive enough visitors to the API website to make the client happy. For this reason, we should also stick to the products that we know that work and that we have seen good results from (InMails, Display, Sponsored Updates etc.).
