FEBRUARY 2021 - MARDI GRAS - refers to events of the carnival celebration beginning at the end of Epiphany through
midnight of Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday and
the beginning of the period of abstinence called Lent. In the
early 1800’s its organizers established the pageantry colors to be
Purple (Justice), Green (Faith), and Gold (Power). This Carnival
involves the use of masks and costumes. In New Orleans, for
example, these often take the shape of fairies, animals, and
people from myths, Medieval costumes as well as clowns. JUNE 2021 – MEMBER’S MOSAIC - artwork created on 4”x4” inch (¾” or 1 3/8” depth) stretched wrapped canvas or
4”x4” artist panels in any medium. The unframed 4x4 inch
canvases/panels will be displayed together to create a “mosaic
artwork”. Mosaic is a picture or pattern produced by arranging
together small colored pieces of material. Canvases will be
affixed to the gallery wall with Velcro, provided by the exhibits
committee.
Members provide their own canvas/panels. Limit two entries per
member. 4”x4” entries may be listed as For Sale or Not for Sale. SEPTEMBER 2021 – SELF-PORTRAIT - A self-portrait is a representation of an artist that is drawn, painted, photographed,
or sculpted by that artist. Any medium.
DECEMBER 2021 GALLERY: LARGE CANVAS - This exhibit gives artists a chance to exhibit
their work THAT normally exceeds our Gallery’s size
limitations. Artwork sizes are as follows: at least 51” (length +
width) and not to exceed 96” (length + width) including the
frame. Limit on entry per member. JEWELRY AND 3-DIMENTINAL ARTWORK- Artwork based on
Nature can take many forms. Nature is an immense topic that
encompasses so many things, we can only provide a partial list
of the various subtopics that may appear in “nature-related”
artwork: flowers, plants, trees, animals, anatomy, geology,
fossils, water, and fire. For this theme it is the artist
interpretation and inspiration provided by nature. COMING SOON! Themed Exhibit Story boards in the studio
and information on the Art Guild webpage Event/Shows.

LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT: Hello everyone and welcome to the long awaited
end of 2020! Hopefully next year will be better.
But in reviewing what we accomplished I am so
proud of all of us. The building looks great,
classes are full, no one has become ill from
Covid-19 and our new fund raiser - Endless
Possibilities - is doing great. If you have not
joined a committee, please consider doing so. It
is a fun way of getting to know you and you
getting to know us.
On a personal note, I know that
being involved in the Art Guild
this year has been such a help.
Just entering the building is like
having a warm hug and it is even
better when people are around!
Come join in the fun! See you at the Art Center! ♥ Deanna from the ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER:
My friends,
As most of you know, I have decided that it is
time for the PCAC to have a fresh
administrative manager. I have spent 1,000’s of
hours, since April 2017, working to build our
organization, while advocating for our amazing
artists. It has been my honor and pleasure. I will continue in my position through
December 31, 2020. My hope is that a
replacement will be found and I can assist with
training. Additionally, I will be hosting this
Friday night, December 4th and look forward to
seeing so many of you. I will be forever “in love” with so many of you. I
am richer for the time, we have shared,
together. Please add my address, email and
phone to your contact list. I pray our
friendships will continue to grow. Pam Emery Woodhouse

OUTREACH COORDINATORS: CHILDREN’S OUTREACH: Rosemary W What do the words crassula, string of pearls, echeveria, burro’s
tails, and sedum bring to your mind? Well, if you said
“succulent plants”, you would be correct! This month our
homeschool students will use oil pastels to draw a collection of
succulents of all shapes and colors. The students will use line,
shape, space, color and texture in their creations. I can hardly
wait!
In November we had a sizeable group here to draw and paint
their Egyptian sarcophagus artwork. When the students finished
their work with a gold liquid watercolor wash, you could hear
them “ooh” and “aah”. Every one of them was smiling as they
met their parents after class. SENIOR ADULT OUTREACH: Patty H This is my last hurrah since there will be two newbies taking my
place, Cheryl Fries and Regina Hairie, our 2021 co-coordinators.
It has been a pleasure to be the senior coordinator. I will be
working with Rosemary Wawro and Children's Outreach during
2021, so my face will still be around.

Realizing Our Endless Possibilities by Sally Neckvatal What if … ? That’s a question most artists ask themselves as they begin a project. What if … I tried something I’ve never done before? What if … I tried something no one thought could work? What if … I collaborated with other artists to meet a new challenge? What if … we explored the endless possibilities available to us in a bold new adventure? We’ve been busy answering the “What if …” question for Endless Possibilities and the good news is, it’s working! We’ve already sold over $1500 of merchandise. We have nearly 50 participating member artists. The response from those who’ve come has been very positive in all respects. Only time and experience will tell our story, yet we are confident that we are developing a desirable niche in the local retail market. The busy shopping weeks before Christmas will be interesting as believe the community is more likely to heed the “Shop Local” suggestion than ever before, and that bodes well for us. Right now, Endless Possibilities is a very important, sustainable fund raising opportunity for the Art Center. It gives us a new avenue for introducing the community to the many possibilities we offer here—the guild, the gallery, the classes, the outreaches, and the fellowship. And, it gives our artists the chance to sell some of the wonderful items they make. The shop would not have been possible without the unique talents of these individuals. Thank you. It has been an honor to work with you! Deanna Magdich, Shop Advisor and Guild President; Cris Anderson, Product Inventory Management Lead; Josette Michael, Display and Merchandising Lead; and Marilyn Bartos, Jean Corbett, Linda Farber, Anna Grimes, Tim Grimes, Nina Hardison, Claudia Kirkpatrick, Debbie Kersh, Marti Meckley, John Michael, Tom Neckvatal, Gary Rutenik; Michalanne Sloan, Myra Tatarowicz; Mike Tucker; and many other advisors and extra hands: Vera Bogle, Cindy Howson, Paul Howson, John Hufford, Rosie Hufford, George Gallant, Jerry Knight, Manny Marti, Dawn Robb, Howard Robb, Pam Woodhouse. Thank you also to the artists whose work is filling our shelves and the Shop Hosts who selling that work. Keep creating! Keep Hosting. Our possibilities are endless only with your help. P.S. Call Cris Anderson, 941-468-7261, to arrange for your inventory intake. We do need lots more! And call the Shop Host on duty at the Guild (931-707-7249) to check for available times that you can volunteer to host in the Shop.
If you have information for the January Arti, PLEASE email Heidi
Anderson, the editor, by December 21. Send to: [email protected].
If your contact information changes or you have information for the
website, please contact John Hufford at [email protected].
