“Anything you can do with a text, you can do with a song”. 1- Most common activities:
a- Gaps for words or phrases.b- Give the category of the missing word.c- Identify patterns.d- Glossary of missing words (or definitions for higher levels) at the bottom of the song.e- A dash for every missing word.f- Leave the same number of dashes as there are letters in the missing words.g- Give the first letter of the missing word.h- Leave out rhyming words at the ends of each line.i- Insert an extra word.j- Leave out words.k- Type out words with mistakes in rhyme to see if the students can catch them. (Hand-out A)l- Dictation: listen and write (with the help of dashes or not).m- Write missing words on the bb. and students guess what the song is about.
2- Musical introduction cards Students walk around the class,introduce themselves, read each other´s cards
3- Jumbled lyrics · Jumbled lines or stanzas on hand-outs · Slips of paper to put in order while or after listening.
4- Mass distance dictation Slips of paper with lines of the song outside the classroom
5- Partial song Give students the first two lines of the stanza and tell them they should complete it with their own words.

6- My favourite moment (during the day , at weekends, in my life, etc). Students listen to a song and they write about a favourite moment in their lives. They can share them with the class or with their partners.
7- Stream of consciousness Students write about whatever comes to their minds.
8- Dictation of the title of your favourite song : to be used to write situations
9- Film music : (Hand-out B )Specific questions on the song they are listening to and the association it evokes.
10- Musical reactions : (Hand-out C)
Students complete the questions while listening to a song.Then they can compare their answers.
10- Recording opinions: (Hand-out D) 12- Top five: Students listen to songs from famous films and they have to write
review of those films.
13- Song discussion : Speaking: What themes for discussion can be introduced with this song? Writing: Opinion/ For and against essays Narrative
14- Discourse Analysis : (Hand-out E) Students can compare their answers and they can discuss about their results: Is the analysis an accurate generalization?
