TheAN/VRC-11120Watt VehicleAdapterAmplifier(VAA) is a COTS/NDI, electrical and mechanicalfixturecombiningthefunctionalityofthebattle-provenAN/PRC-148 Multiband Inter/Intra Team Radio (allMBITR and JEM configurations) and Vehicle Adapterinto a system that offers an alternative to existingSINCGARS vehicular installations. The AN/VRC-11120 Watt VAA consists of two AN/PRC-148 radios,two Vehicle Adapters, and an electrical/mechanicalinterface tray that facilitates direct installation intomilitary vehicles outfitted with SINCGARS InstallationKits (IKs) utilizing Mounting Base MT-6352. The20 Watt VAA, when installed in combination witha SINCGARS IK, enables power amplified (20 Wattper Vehicle Adapter), co-site filtered, SINCGARSperformanceaswellasoperationwiththeSINCGARSIKs audio devices and vehicular intercom systemssuch as the VIC-3. Rapid, cable-free radio dismountin less than 2 seconds is enabled with single push-button action. Capability beyond basic SINCGARSfunctionality is available through replacement of thestandard antenna provided in the SINCGARS IK witha readily available COTS, 30-512 MHz broadbandantenna.TheVAAisrugged,constructedtowithstandharsh weather conditions and ballistic shock. A common solution for vehicluar and dismounted communications.
