poetry relies on the sound of the spoken language poetry relies on figurative language.
Poetry can tell a story, describe an object or situation, narrate an event, or simply express feelings. Whatever the substance of the remarks and the ultimate message, poetry is characterized by linguistic elements that go beyond standard sentence structure.
The objectives in teaching poetry in the classroom include:
to motivate the students’ interest in learning English Language thus appreciating the beauty and uniqueness of poetry simultaneously.
to build self confidence in oral skill by expressing themselves by taking part actively during the recitation of poetry.
to enjoy the lesson in a more creative way besides the formal lessons to enhance the students knowledge in various cultures through

I FEEL VERY LONELY
I feel very lonely
Now my hamster’s dead
We buried her this morning
Beside the flower bed.
She had a good life and died of old age,
But I cry every time
I look at her cage

I WANT A DOG
I want a dog
Any sort of dog
A watchdog,
A sheepdog,
A guard dog,
A gun dog,
A work dog,
A fun dog,
But I want a dog!

THE BIRD
Here are the legs that walk along,
Here is the beak that sings a song.
Here are the wings that flap and spread
And here is the bird

Now who is this knocking
At cottontail’s door?
Tap tappit!Tap tappit!
She’s heard it before?
And when she peeps out
There is nobody there,
But a present of carrots
Put down on the stair.
Hark! I hear it again!
Tap,Tap,tappit!
Tap tappit!
Why-I really believe it’s a
Little black rabbit!

But never a minnow will bob my float,
Fishes come bite!
