Executive Director Report
The past year has been a busy and successful year for Gymnastics PEI. Despite a reduction in
government funding this season, GPEI was able to maintain the same level of service as in
previous seasons.
Both the women’s and the men’s technical committees were very busy this year, completing
training camps and skills clinics and competing in meets. Both programs continue to build their
capacity with coaching and judging educations sessions.
Twelve coaches were trained this season in Gymnastics Foundations by our Learning Facilitator
CJ Keliher. All clubs continue to be proactive in keeping their coaches trained and professional.
The working group tasked with revising the organization’s Policies and Procedures continued to
meet this season. However, some timing issues have delayed the project and it is still a work in
progress at this time.
We have seen an increase in membership again this year, with all clubs adding new
participants. Between competitive, recreational, tiny tots, camps, and birthdays, the options to
participate in gymnastics are abundant in all areas of PEI. The Summerside club continues to
expand now that it has a permanent facility and our preschool programs continue to set the
highest standard for Active Start programming.
This year GPEI sent teams to Atlantics, Easterns, and Canadians with our greatest success being
a team gold won by our Level 3 under 13 boys at Atlantics. There was some hiccups with team
management this year as GPEI decided not to appoint a manager for Easterns or Canadians
however, it is hoped to take some lessons learned forward into a better season next year.
The Canada Games Advisory Committee continued to meet and the process continues to
ensure a fair selection for the teams. It is looking probably that a full men’s and a full women’s
team will be selected to the Games in 2015.
I would like to thank the GPEI board for their patience as I was off on leave for most of the
season. Another big thank-you to Craig Watson for taking on a new sport and keeping the boat
afloat in my absence.

Summerside Saultos Gymnastics
Annual Report
We are very pleased with the progress of
our club over the past year. We had our
biggest year yet as far as registrations are
concerned. Our athletes performed very
well, attending our first out of region
meets in Montreal and Calgary as well as
attending the Eastern Canadian
Championships for the first time. We were
also able to expand our equipment
inventory by purchasing a spring floor as
well as numerous pieces of used
equipment over the year. We hosted our
first competition in April when we hosted
Provincial Championships. We considered
the meet a success and would like the
opportunity to improve upon it by hosting
again this year! Our year end gym show
was another great success, almost too
good! We will need to expand our seating
for next year as there were so many
people in attendance.
2014-2015: We are very excited for the upcoming season! We have expanded all of our
programs, hired new staff and are looking forward to purchasing even more new equipment.
Our second annual chocolate bar sale has already begun. Proceeds from this sale will fund the
purchase of equipment that we will help with our athletes training and will allow us to host
larger and more profitable competitions in the future. We are also starting a series of satellite
programs in the surrounding communities. We are excited for the growth that these programs
will hopefully bring and look forward to offering gymnastics to even more children.

Island Gymnastics Academy
Annual Report
The Island Gymnastics Academy enjoyed a very busy season this past year.
Competitions
The highlight of the year was hosting the Atlantic Gymnastics Championships at UPEI. This high
profile event could not have been hosted without the tireless volunteers. The Academy again
hosted the Harvest Classic, in November with over 120 gymnasts from four PEI clubs in
attendance. The Prince Edward Classic was held in January 2014. Over 400 gymnasts from
Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island participated. This
continues to be one the highest attended competition east of Montreal.
We enjoyed attending the provincial championships hosted by Summerside Saultos. It was
great to see both female and male disciplines compete together in such a great, central
location. Excellent job Saultos!!!
The Academy girls competed in several invitational competitions last year including – Harvest
Classic, Prince Edward Classic, Alta, Amherst in Nova Scotia, Bermuda, Gymnix in Montreal.
They also participated in a several training camps.
The Academy boys competed in several invitational competitions, including, Dallas, Calgary,
Harvest Classic, Prince Edward Classic, Titans and Alta in Nova Scotia, Elite Canada and National
Championships. Several training camps were held.
Participation in the International Competitions and the Provincials, Atlantics, Easterns, Elite
Canada and Nationals was a highlight of our competitive season for the boys and girls.
Staff
We offer programs from pre-school to adult gymnastics. We have six full time coaches directing
the programs. We also have 21 other coaches who work in the programs. We are pleased to
have hired two more full time coaches who will assist in our delivery of programs starting in
September.
Professional development continues as a high priority with C.J. Keliher completing his third of
four modules in the Level 4 program. Three coaches attended the ultimate Level 2 clinic hosted
by international conductors Keith Russell, Rick McCharles and Guy Lavoie. We also continue
with our yearly first aid training.
Our recreation and preschool program directors deliver in house training for our recreation
coaches.
In total we have six NCCP Level 3 coaches, one (1) NCCP Level 4 coach. All of our competitive
coaches have NCCP training at various levels. We also have four teachers on staff, and one
coach who competed in the Pan American Games. We have five coaches who are furthering
their education (one is a Vet student). We have five coaches who are currently in our
mentorship program.
Athlete Development
The Academy coaches closely monitor the delivery of the programs.
The girls program continues to grow. The success at the competitive level last year is a tribute
to the quality of the whole program offered to our gymnasts. International travel has become a
part of the regular yearly program.
The boys are developing a very strong “mini tumbler” program. They continue to pursue
International travel with a team competing in the US.
Recreation Gymnastics
The Academy is pleased to see these programs grow. We are always adapting the delivery of
programs to meet the needs of our clients. We have children from age 1 to adults who enjoy
the fun, fitness and fundamentals delivered in our recreation classes. Our satellite program in
Montague continues to bring positive feedback. We are excited to have such a great
relationship with Montague Consolitated School.
Our adult gymnastics program offers a great experience and work out for our adult members.
They were welcomed additions to Gymstrada.
Ed Brougham Club Award
The Academy was pleased to be awarded the Ed
Brougham Club Award at the Gymnastics Canada
Awards Gala in June. The award is presented to
clubs that have demonstrated exceptional
services and provided an outstanding
contribution to the development and promotion
of gymnastics at the National and Provincial level.
Facility
Being part of the House of Sport is extremely positive for the Academy. Sharing resources and
overall facility with several sports has many benefits. The current space the Academy has is
small, but is utilized fully. The use of the South Gym continues to grow. We could certainly use
more space!!!
Equipment
This new equipment undertaking by the Academy has proven very positive. With the upgrade
of our equipment, we see great results from the improvement.
Anniversary
The Island Gymnastics Academy opened its doors in September of 1981. We are celebrating our
33nd year of Incorporation. We have over 1000 gymnasts registered with Gymnastics PEI.
Strategic Plan
The Board of Directors completed the strategic plan for 2013 – 2018. This project has been very
positive for staff and board members as we look at future plans.
Closing
We would like to thank Gymnastics PEI for partnering on several significant projects that
encourage the development and growth of gymnastics on PEI. We acknowledge the great
support from the Provincial Government. The continued funding through the TD program has
already seen positive results in performance and expansion of programs on PEI.
We would like to thank the parents for their tremendous support this year. Hosting the Harvest
Classic, Prince Edward Classic and Atlantics cannot be successfully undertaken without your
support. Thank you to the Staff….your continued dedication to the children of the Island
Gymnastics Academy is outstanding.
Thank you to the Board of Directors who work extremely well together and oversee the policy
and procedures of the Academy.

St. Louis Gymnos Club
Annual Report
The St. Louis Gymnos has
enjoyed a great and
successful season this past
year.
In our competitive
program we had a total of
14 gymnasts compete in 6
competitions across the
Atlantics provinces. They
competed mostly in level
one and two.
We had a total of 14
competitive gymnasts
compete at the 2014
Provincial Gymnastics Championships hosted in Summerside. For many of our younger
gymnasts it was their first provincial championship.
Tori Hogan and Emma Lee Lyon participated at the 2014 Atlantic Championship hosted in
Charlottetown. Both gymnasts enjoyed their experience and achieved personnel best. Tori won
first place on Vault and finishing 7th All Around, Emma Lee Lyon finished 3rd on uneven bars,
4th on floor and vault. She also finished 2nd place All Around silver medal. Her all around score
was the highest of all GPEI female gymnasts.
We had three coaches finish the second part of the Foundation course. We found that our
coaches were better trained and prepared when they came back from taking the second part. It
was a project well appreciated.
Two judges had a chance to use their new judging skills at many competitions this past season.
We hope to get a few more involved the upcoming year as we are losing Bailey McAssey to post
secondary studies.
We had a big increase in our club registration this year reaching a total of 103 members. We
have a small facility and our biggest problem is retaining our more experience coaches. After
they graduate form high school they move on to University/college and they end up leaving our
area and coach at other clubs. Always rebuilding and never able to keep a good core of older
gymnasts to come and help after they are done their high school studies.
We had two very successful fundraisers this year raising money to purchase some new pieces of
equipment probably this coming year. Again we only have some much space to store what we
have now so it’s hard to purchase more equipment.
Our annual parent day was again well attended by all our groups. We had our gym full of
spectators with many standing on the sides.
We anticipate having a bigger registration next year as we try add one more pre-school group
on Saturday. Space might be a challenge.
We are looking forward to a very exciting 2015 season next year.
We would like to thank GPEI board and all the board members for all your support during the
year.

We had a successful year. Both of our competitive and recreation programs continue to grow.
We had waiting lists and added more classes in the recreation program so we could increase
our membership.
The cheerleaders are no longer training at our facility, as we needed more space for our
programs.
We hired a new competitive gymnastics coach this season.
We spent $7,700 on equipment updates this year. Equipment purchased included: landing
mats, two balance beam, spring board and pit mats.
We had 7 athletes attend Atlantics and 3 athletes attend the Eastern championships this
season.
