Minutes - 2017 AGMMinutes - 2017 AGM
• AGM on 28 May 2017
• Stated at 14h00
• All reports read by relevant people and accepted by the Jama’ah
• Constitutional amendment tabled to suspend elections for one term to allow
completion of rezoning and building project by current members – Motion
received no objections and unanimously accepted.
• Reports followed by brief Q & A session
• Questions relating to us drawing in expertise of other bodies – SET alluded to
use of ICONS in dealing with various issues.
• Chairman clarified issue of MS Karriem not being one of the Ghufaath for themonth
• AGM closed
Highlights of the past 12 months Highlights of the past 12 months
• Only dealing with highlights as the Chairman has
provided a fairly detailed report on all activities.
• Committee structure – new co-opted members welcomed
• Yacoob Patel and Waseef Allie
• Redevelopment process which started way back in 2014
was finalized by council with a rejection. This will be dealt
with in more detail under my “Special Legal Report”
which follows this.
Highlights continued...
• Communications has again been a significant plus
• Facebook page / group, live audio streaming has remained fairly active. Our What's app
distribution list has grown to 846 members
• Our monthly newsletter has become quite popular and has improved in leaps and
bounds. Most importantly though this process is being driven by our youth which bodes
well for our future development.
• Society and Masjied continue to remain a bustling hive of activity with great success
Alghamdulillah.
• Wellness Centre formally launched in December 2017 and the Legal Advice Centre piloting
its services from 12 May 2018.
• The organisation as a whole continue to function as a well oiled machine.
Looking Forward Looking Forward
• Continued amazing support from the community without
whom none of the initiatives we undertake will be
possible
• Boeta Nasier has also indicated that he will be retiring
soon and in this regards we have started putting
succession plans into place. More of this will be
communicated during the year Inshaa Allah
• Building and redevelopment of Masjied premises remains
one of our primary focuses and will continue to draw the
major part of our attention.
