Identification (Cyperaceae).
The research work in the department was oriented towards both classical and
applied components of the subject. A. R. A. C. S. College is situated in close
vicinity of Western Ghats, there is rich biodiversity in some regions within its
jurisdiction. Hence, an exhaustive attempt is made to investigate Angiosperm flora
in different regions. In view of significant role of coastal ecosystem taxonomic
aspects of flowering plants especially Grasses have been studied. According to
IUCN Category of Rare, endemic, endangered and critically endangered species of
flowering plants have been propagated by simple seed germination technique. To
achieve the above research objectives, besides, relying solely on the University of
Mumbai for minor research Projects andThis has greatly helped the department in
research facilities such as Botanical Garden, herbarium, The research work carried
out in the department has appeared in more than 2 papers published in national and
international journals and is also presented international conferences.
The department organized one Medicinal Plant exhibition of
SindhudurgDistrict as well as organized Science Exhibitions for school students.
