Th is pla n is p ro v in g to be th e most help fu l, in spir in g

and encourag ing f eature we have added to our work

in late years. Th e increase in init iat ion fee has not

deterred m any f rom seeking admiss ion and the p lan

appeals to reason. Tho se lodge o f f icers who were

most dubious about the plan are now enthusiast ic.

Even in Mexico and Puer to Rico , where the work i s

translated into Spanish, the new plan appeals strongly,

and more appl i cat ions have come f rom Puer to Rico

under this plan in three months than in any previous

th ree-month period.

Again let us say to our members that i f they write

us letters making reports or statements which do not

requi re an important answer they must k indly take

our si lence as meaning* that we are pl&ased, agr ee

able with what is said, and have no changes or modi

f icat ions to make. W e cannot possibly answer all the

letters we receive. I f, how ever, remittances are made

to us and no acknowledgment is made, please inform

us at once so that if the letter is lost, it may be traced.

In six years only a few remittances have been lost ,

but we do w ish to make acknow ledgment each t ime.

Members from Boston and Phi ladelphia have visi tedus during the summer and fal l months. W e are al

ways glad to have them come and part icipate in the

many degree sessions, lectures and meetings held in

Headquarters .

T h e r e is e v ery rea so n fo r our m em bers to fe el su re

that business and financial conditions generally will

imp rove e arly in the spring and a normal condit ion

wil l prevai l again.

Supplem entary lectures for each o f th e early de

grees are being prepared ^containing a simple review

of the fundamental of each degree, so that members

may review them befo re examinations. Furthermore,

of f ic ial key books j to each degree, containing the prin

ciples that should be in each member ’s note book, are

also bein g prepared for mem bers to preserve.

From a news i tem in the New Y ork W or ld we l earn

that another method of reach ing thousands with our

Light has entered into the general act ivi t ies of our

O rde r . Seve ra l y ea r s ago w hen the ^p re m e Lodge

establ ished i ts f irst Temple the Imperator instal led a

wireless stat ion with the intention of keeping in touch

with the various branch Lodges. In the second Te m

ple in New York a similar wireless stat ion was in

stalled, but the part ic ipat ion of ou r country in the

grea t wa r br ou ght an end to these plans, fo r the Ixr*~

perator and his unusual ly large private stat ion Were

l i s ted w i th the Radio League o f Amer ica and sub

mitted to the patr iot ic pledge of holding the wireless

staiton for exclusive mil i tary service. Af te r the ar

mist ice was signed interest in these matters was rev ived and at the Supreme Lodge in Cal i forn ia another

station was installed. It is hop ed that some day all

our permanent Temples wi l l be equipped in the same

manner so that wireless communication wi l l be pos

sible day and night. But at the Grand Lod ge Tem ple

o f N ew Yo rk, Brother Marcr i tta o f the Supreme

Counci l , with the assistance of one or two others,

has perfected the instal lat ion of a wireless telegraph

and telephone stat ion of great ef f ic iency.

T h e N ew Y o rk W o r ld arti c le in dic ate s th e gr ea t

value of a transmission stat ion in ou r work. Not

only wi l l the stat ion in our Tem ple in New Yo rk re

ceive music, messages and other sounds from great

distances and make them audible through a great

horn to al l the members assembled in the Temple, but

through a similar station, our lectures and teachings

may be given to a mult i tude. Th e W orld art ic le

In some way that passes understanding a story has

passed around in some sections o f the country that a

f e w o f o u r Lodges , o r pe rh aps a num ber o f them, con*

t empla te closing during the period o f f inancia l de

press ion in the East. Th is is not true . No ne o f the

L o d g e s o r T e m p l e s i n th e Eastern States is closing

or even th ink ing o f c l os ing f o r any period or cause .
