A National Satin Club was first formed by Walter
Huey and John C. Fehr in 1936 after Walter Huey
found the Satinized kits in his nest box. The Satin
breed was recognized by the American Rabbit
Breeders Association in 1946. There are currently
eleven recognized varieties in the Satin breed.
Satins weigh between 8.5 and 11 pounds as seniors.
Black Blue Broken Pattern
Californian Chinchilla Chocolate
Copper Otter Red
Siamese White
The Broken pattern is white with any recognized Satin
variety in the pattern. It is recommended to have
10 - 50% color in the broken pattern. The Otter is
recognized in four colors: black, blue, chocolate, and
lilac.
Black Blue Chinchilla
Chocolate Opal Otter
The Mini Satin, under the Certificate of Development by
J. Leo Collins, was admitted to the ARBA Standard of
Perfection in 2006. The white variety was the first rec-
ognized color. There are several COD’s under develop-
ment within the ARBA presentation process.
Mini Satins weigh between 3.25 and 4.75 pounds.
