My Fellow Parishioners,
I am feeling really a part of a familyas the Warden of St. Paul’s Churchthis past year, a part of a very active, vibrant family. St Paul’s continues togive me a spiritual fulfillment whereI can worship in a beautiful church, get to grow as a Christian in my faith, and have many opportunities toserve. Most importantly, I have theprivilege to do all of this with all ofyou. As I move through the parish, Ihave met so many doing their bit ofservice and sharing their love of thebeautiful Christian community towhich we belong.
In June, Father Shawn was formallyinstituted as 21st Rector of theParish. He graduated to that roleafter being our interim for severalmonths, then Priest-in-Charge fortwo years, and then Rector sinceearly 2017. The Institution of theRector on June 30th was quite theevent. It was one of many times weall got together to make it the mostbeautiful day for the parish andFather Shawn. We had Dr. ClaudiaDumschat, from the Church of theTransfiguration in Manhattan as aguest organist. This event broughtBishop Provenzano to our Parish forthe first time in several years, alongwith other dignitaries and friends fromnear and far, including many ofFather Shawn’s family members fromNebraska. The brass was polished, the oak waxed, repairs made. Wedazzled and we smiled in satisfactionat the same time. We were proud ofour humble Parish, as we should be,seeing that we now have a wonderfulRector who will guide us in the yearsto come.
Beyond the Institution, we also hada very successful holiday Boutiquethis year headed up by Tracie Wyattand Lorraine Ritchie. We also had agreat Gol f Out ing, despi te apostponement due to inclementweather. The original date was rainedout with downpours and flooding. Itwas great quick thinking by ZachFeigman and Mark Galluccio to save
the day for our biggest fund drive.
Zach has also revamped andstreamlined our website. It iseasier to navigate with links toall that happens at St Paul’s.Check out the aerial shots of StPaul’s from our resident dronephotographer, Father ShawnWilliams. Soon to come I hopewill be an audio or writtentranscription of Father Shawn’sSunday sermons. This might benice for those not able to get tochurch on any given Sunday. Ihope we can make this happen.
Our nursery school at St Paul’shas been thriving this year.Carolyn Guise makes uscompetitive in the pre-schoolworld. We have perhaps thelargest enrollment ever thisyear. Some revamping wascompleted to maintain ourcompliance with current laws inNY about pre-schools. We mayalso be running a longer dayprogram next year. I know thatthe nursery school library got afresh coat of paint, a new muraland a refreshed learning treesoon to sprout some springleaves.
Another big component of ourchu rch i s ou r ou t reachprograms. We adopted a familyat Christmas. We have been

running a coat/clothing programduring our Fellowship Saturdays.Yes, Fellowship Saturdays happenonce a month, but that only happensbecause there is a big group ofvolunteers working, collecting, call ing, cleaning, packing andshopping on other days to make thatSaturday event happen. TheFellowship Café is the flagship ofour outreach programs. We helpmany people every month. We arebeginning to be seen in thecommunity as a place that helpspeople. For the last few months ourvolunteer staff has been growingwith our Fellowship program. Wehave many people who are notmembers of the parish who regularlygive of their time to help out. Seeingall this happens helps me feel good.Come by and see how it works. Itcould work for you too.
Thank you Mark Nielsen forcontinuing to publish our beautiful‘Epistle’ each month with all thepic tures and news. TremainChandler, thank you for your tirelesswork as Sexton keeping our propertyclean and beautiful. Thank you,Anthony Stavola for keeping ourgrounds beautiful all year long. MaryEllen Hansen has continued to worktirelessly as our clerical heartbeat, which we so appreciate. Thanks toVladimir Polezhayev and choir forour beautiful music each week.
Finally, I want to thank GeorgiaParsons Ravener for being such agreat Warden. She gives of her timeand energy with a sense of gracethat I admire. I have enjoyed herleadership, and I have big shoes tofill. Thank goodness Georgia willremain as a Vestry member. As Ihave learned over time, we makethis happen together.
Forward, under the grace of Godmay we make the coming year agreat one at St Paul’s.
