Industry Awards!
This is our night to recognize and celebrate the outstanding talents and
commitment of our behind-the-scenes staff members who make our
dance events run so smoothly and our Lifetime Achievement Winner,
Jo Rowan.

2016 ADCC Lifetime Achievement Award Winner
JO ROWAN
A nationally renowned ballet dancer,
choreographer and dance teacher, Jo
Rowan is Professor of Dance and
Chairman of the Dance Department at
the Ann Lacy School of American
Dance and Entertainment, Oklahoma
City University.
She has had a long and distinguished career, appearing in ballets,
musicals, and on television, and touring the world with The American
Spirit Dance Company, of which she is founder and director.
Jo Rowan is a frequent lecturer on the history of ballet and American
dance and has written and narrated “American Dance Styles” and
“Seventy Years of American Dance” for television. She has served as
spokesperson for National Dance Week Education, and was honored by
Dance Teacher magazine as National Teacher of the Year in Higher
Education, among many other honors and awards.
In choosing this year’s Lifetime Achievement honoree, The ADCC Board
recognizes Jo Rowan’s vast experience, her commitment to excellence,
and her lasting influence on the field of dance.
Having been taught by Jo Rowan is an experience that no dance student can ever forget. What sets Jo aside from all the rest is her unique perspective
on what it really means to be a dancer. She draws on her vast knowledge of dance and her own life experience and shares it all with her students,
propelling each dancer from the studio… to the stage…to life.”

Elizabeth Girczyc, Customer Service Turn It Up Dance Challenge
Elizabeth Girczyc, also known as Liz, joined the Turn It Up
team in 2013 upon graduating college from the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelor’s of Science degree
in Marketing. Liz started dancing at the age of three and
continued until she was 18. Her favorite styles include tap, hip
hop, and acro. Liz enjoys working in the competitive dance
industry and looks forward to growing with Turn It Up Dance
Challenge!

leaving them walking away feeling 100% prepared and
confident for their upcoming competition or convention.”

EnerGy National Dance Competitions
Anthony Fett returns to the EnerGy family for his third season
in 2017. He has performed throughout the U.S.A. and abroad,
on television and onstage, at Carnegie Hall and at The White
House. He is an alumnus of The Chicago Children’s Choir, The
Lyric Opera of Chicago Children’s Chorus, and a graduate of
The Hartt School of Theater. Fett appeared in the hit
Off-Broadway comedy “Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding”, and the
national tours of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” and “Bye
Bye, Birdie,” and created and performed in several cabaret
acts and emcees events across the country.
“Anthony is extremely witty, always quick with a joke,
a song or even a dance. He is also a genuinely caring
individual and really connects, not only with people
in the audience, but with his co-workers too!”

Jesse Katen, Judge Sophisticated Productions Dance Competitions
Jesse Katen has been a judge for Sophisticated Productions
Dance Competitions since 2010. He is very knowledgeable in
all styles of dance and thrives on making every Sophisticated
Productions dancer feel special. In addition to his work with
Sophisticated, Jesse is the owner of Jesse Katen School of
dance since 2004 located in Windsor, NY. He is also Professor
of English and chair of the college honors program at SUNY
Broome Community College. Jesse is also President of the
Board of Trustees at the Broome County Public Library and
volunteers teaching a dance summer program there for kids.
“Jesse excels at special awards—he finds the positive in all
dancers, making them feel truly appreciated and unique.
Many studio owners and parents say he is their favorite part
of the competition.”
Dennis Andreas, Production Legacy Dance Championships
Dennis Andreas is currently Director of Photo, Video & Trophy
Production, and since joining the company has taken Legacy’s
photography and video to new heights and contributed
significant and cost-effective improvements in all aspects of
Legacy’s production, including staging, lighting and sound,
and trophy production. Dennis has a BFA in Photography
from SUNY Purchase, and previously worked for Lifetouch
National Portrait Studios, EAP Photography and Video, and
Hall of Fame/League of Champions in various capacities as
photographer, videographer, editor and internet live stream
production director.
“Dennis not only took Legacy’s photo and video production
to new heights, but also devised an affordable way to
produce our own video critiques—he’s worth his weight
in gold.”

Nicole Fattore, Sales/Merchandise Beyond The Stars
Nicole Fattore joined Beyond The Stars team four years ago.
She has worked in several different capacities over the last
four years; her current position is Merchandise and Sales.
Since taking on that role, Nicole has handled everything from
helping to create the BTS line of clothing and accessories,
designing display layout, tracking inventory and reorders, and
has acted as the main salesperson at some competitions.
Nicole is creative, detail-oriented, and good with customers. In
addition to her work at BTS, Nicole is currently pursuing an
associate of arts degree, and also works at a local dance
studio.
“Nicole is that rare person who is both very creative and
also extremely detail oriented, making her a true standout
on our crew. She goes the extra step to make everyone feel
valued.”
Phil Fabry, Show/Tour/Event Manager Spotlight Events
Phil Fabry joined Spotlight in 2009. As a senior member of
the staff, Phil maintains roles as an Event Manager, Show
Director, Judge, Performer, Representative, Trainer and
Advisor. Phil is a 1990 graduate of Millikin University, where he
received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre/Dance
Performance, with a minor in Voice and Piano. He has toured
the world, performing in over 400 cities, 49 states, Manila,
Singapore, and Korea. He is also the owner and director of
Steps Performing Arts Center in Lindenhurst, Illinois where he
educates and instructs the next generation of performing arts
students.
“With his significant performance, choreography and
directing background, Phil is one of the cornerstones to
Spotlight’s success and a catalyst for innovative ideas in
production.”

Kassandra Wilson, Stage Manager Groove
Kassi Wilson just finished her second season with Groove, and
has grown to become an integral part of the team. Kassi
received the Groove Crew Member of the Year award because
of her work ethic, positivity and passion. She is always willing
to learn new things and help where she is needed in order to
get the job done correctly and on time. Thanks to her exten-
sive knowledge of our events, Kassi has become our crew’s
go-to person if they have questions. Kassi is more than happy
to work hard not just to get the job done, but to achieve her
goals and continuously better herself and the company.
“Kassi is always the first to flash a smile, and has the
enthusiasm and drive necessary to produce a well-run
event that is fun and entertaining for everyone involved.”

Congratulations to All 2016 Industry Excellence Award Nominees

CHRISTOPHER PHI, HandbalancerChristopher was born in California and has been
doing gymnastics and theater since the age of
10. He won various national titles in the sport of
tumbling, and after highschool he began study-
ing musical theater at Notre Dame de Namur
University. In 2005 he joined the cast of “Le
Reve” at the Wynn hotel in Las Vegas. After
performing there for 5 years he left to perform
his handstand number at various festivals and events around the world. He
has appeared in various commercials and TV series. In 2013 he began
working in Cirque du Soleil’s “Mystere” as the Yellow Bird character, where
he currently performs.
JOHANNA SAPAKIE, Acro PoleJohanna has performed, choreographed and
taught all over the world and has worked with
Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, and
Miley Cyrus, just to name a few. She has had the
pleasure of working closely with directors
Debbie Allen, Vincent Paterson and Jamie King,
among others, and has performed her dance
and acrobatics for the first family, the Obamas.
She has been a part of two different Cirque Du Soleil shows as a dancer and
an acrobat, Viva Elvis and Michael Jackson ONE. She can still currently be
seen performing for ONE every night at Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas.
DAVID LOCKE, Cyr WheelDavid has performed in Cirque Du Soleil shows
Viva Elvis, KA, and most recently was a part of
the cast of the touring CDS show Kurios. As a
Cyr wheel specialist David brings a fast paced
routine full of dynamic tricks and musicality.
