Design
This design is a manifestation of what I call the “ ”.
Studies conducted as a part of my thesis indicate that people tend to love products that fit into their lives with minimum alteration of their existing lifestyles and offer some useful value addition.
Examples of such products
I-pod shuffle soap paper
The coasters generally serve the purpose of just covering the cup or supporting it.
It is made of flexible insulating plastic, with grips on the sides for the thumb and fingers. This way one doesn't burn fingers and gets to hold the cup comfortably.
An attempt has been made to design it to help hold it as well.

To design a mobile phone for the urban youth of India(18-25 years). An attempt was made to define a new, contemporary, communication scenario and to design a phone for the same.
An attempt was made to do an analysis of the , , and the of the
user group in order to understand the new communication scenario that they might appreciate.
An increasing number of people of this generation are losing out on friendship benefits because of lack of the time required to develop and nurture relationships. The solution is a concept phone that allows for a peer to peer connectivity using Blue tooth technology.
A concept scenario where a person with little leisure time at hand could use the phones networking feature to find people of common interest and initiate friendships

Form Development
Final design of the handset
This design is currently being developed by LG Electronics for a 2009 launch.
The approach for the form language was to design an iconic form and associate the new feature with that form.
In keeping with the projected trends obtained from a trend survey the design details were developed.
At 6mm it is the world’s thinnest cell phone with a unique touch pad navigation system. The form is designed to appeal to the age group

Design
The idea was to create a useful, practical and beautiful lifestyle product in paper.
An image of fragility is associated with elegant lampshades. This is an attempt to break that paradigm.
Why not have a lamp that can literally be kicked around. A lamp that rolls on the floor lighting up the space around it.
The icosahedron , made of rolled paper, protects the light source at its core. The form gives the shade it’s ruggedness.
Small scribbled drawings on the paper skin gives it a childlike appeal

Explorations
Prototype Development
The brief was to try an achieve an optimum design. A design that would be lean ,fat free, simple and beautiful. An additional constraint of having a rotary symmetric form was also imposed .
The approach was to explore rotary symmetric forms in general first and then narrow it down to the design requirements.
The final form was developed in wood using the lathe and milling machines. Acrylic sheets were vacuum formed over these developed moulds and they were cut and finished by hand to get the final product.

Symmetry is not a requirement functionally.Aesthetically, all that is required is balance.
Design
Prototype Development
Most of the eye wear available in the market conform to the notions of symmetry.
A lot of form explorations were done to create a different language of form. An attempt to break away from the established norms of symmetry and make a cool product. Also attention was given to the ergonomics of removing and putting on the glasses.
The handles were made of wood and the lenses were cut out of transparent acrylic. For the prototype, hinges cut out of discarded spectacles were used.

The child in the photograph is painting faces with water below a self portrait by her mother, who is an artist.
To design an illustration, on the theme of anything that influenced you artistically as a child.
What first made you feel that a creative life was for you?
The idea I have tried to portray through this photograph is that we get influenced by our elders and their forays into creativity . It is in our nature to emulate.
This photograph symbolizes my ideas on the design brief given.
Some photographic editing was required to get the illustrative effect I required. That was done in Photoshop.

I have always loved to interact with different mediums of expression. What is presented here is a subset of my attempts.
I love photography, sketching, rendering and cartooning
I have also developed my personal website in the form of an animated interactive walkthrough where one has to explore to access my products. An attempt at a different form of interactive experience.
