Notice is hereby given thatsealed bids will be received bySupply Chain Management for theCapital Project #20027 – MGMC –2020 Air Handling Unit (AHU) #14Replacement (Dietary) project inaccordance with the plans andspecifications now on file at MaryGreeley Medical Center, 1111 DuffAvenue, Ames, Iowa 50010. Saidbids shall be filed with the buyer’soffice by 10:00 a.m. on the 13thday of August, 2020. The bids willbe opened and announced in theSupply Chain Conference Room atMary Greeley Medical Center andall bidders may be in attendance. The Project shall be constructedin accordance with the drawingand specifications prepared byowner and Alvine Engineering. The Board of Trustees meetingon August 24, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. inthe Administration ConferenceRoom will include a hearing on theproposed plans, specificationsand form of contract for the Proj-ect. A report of the bids, with arecommendation, will be present-ed to the Board once the hearingis closed. One originally signed proposalon an originally completed BidForm provided in the specifica-tions is required and may be sub-mitted in a single sealed enve-lope. Photocopies of any kind arenot acceptable and will be causefor rejection of the proposal. Anyalteration of the proposal formwill be cause for rejection of theproposal. Oral, telegraphic or tele-phonic bids and modifications willnot be considered. Bids shall notbe withdrawn by the contractorfor a period of sixty (60) consecu-tive calendar days after openingof bids.

Bidding requirements, drawingsand specifications are available tointerested bidders via the planroom or by contacting the archi-tect firm for this project. Each proposal shall be accompa-nied by a separate sealed enve-lope containing the Bidder’s BidSecurity. Bid Security shall be inthe amount of 5% of the bidamount and in the form of a cash-ier’s check or certified checkdrawn on a solvent Iowa bank or abank chartered under the laws ofthe United States, or a bid bond inthe form prescribed in the specifi-cations, executed by a corpora-tion authorized to contract as asurety in Iowa. The check or bidbond shall be made payable toMary Greeley Medical Center. Saidcheck or bond may be cashed asliquidated damages in the eventthe bidder fails or refuses to enterinto a contract within ten (10)days and post performance bondsatisfactory to the Board of Trust-ees, insuring the faithful fulfill-ment of the contract and mainte-nance of said improvements as re-quired by law and the specifica-tions. Each successful bidder shall berequired to furnish a corporatesurety bond in an amount equal to100% of its contract price. Saidbonds to be issued by a responsi-ble surety approved by the Boardof Trustees and shall guaranteethe faithful performance of thecontract and terms and condi-tions therein contained and shallguarantee the prompt payment ofall material and labor and protectand hold harmless the MedicalCenter from claims and damagesof any kind caused by the opera-tions of the contractor and shallalso guarantee the maintenanceof the improvement in good repairfor a period of one (1) year fromand after the completion and ac-ceptance by the Medical Center. There will be a pre-bid confer-ence at 2:00 p.m. on August 4, 2020in the Facilities Conference Roomlocated at 1111 Duff Avenue. It isopen to all interested parties toanswer questions pertaining tothe plans, specifications and formof contract. Payment to the contractor willbe made on monthly progress es-timates submitted by the contrac-tor on the first day of each month.Payment will be made of ninety-five (95%) of the value of accepta-ble construction completed dur-

ing the preceding calendar month.Initial payment will made at theend of the second constructionmonth. Such payments are in noway an act of acceptance of thework done. Payment to the contractor willbe made from such funds as arelegally available for such purpos-es. Upon completion of the work, fi-nal payment will be made no earli-er than thirty (30) days after thefinal acceptance of the completedproject by resolution of the Boardof Trustees. This is subject to thefurther condition that the contrac-tor furnish a list of all persons fur-nishing labor and materials, withevidence that such persons havebeen paid in full as required in thespecifications. Work shall commence withinten days of a notice to proceed. This project will be a Tax Ex-empt project. Mary Greeley Medi-cal Center will issue the success-ful Contractor(s) a project specifictax exempt certificate for all taxa-ble purchases. The owner reserves the right toreject any and all bids, and awardno contract; accept bids it deemsto be in its best interest; to waiveany informalities or irregularitiesin bids submitted; and waive mi-nor irregularities or discrepanciesin bidding procedure. By virtue of statutory authority,preference will be given to prod-ucts and provisions grown and lo-cally produced within the State ofIowa. This notice is given by order ofMary Greeley Medical CenterBoard of Trustees, an administra-tive agency of the City of Ames,charged with management andcontrol of the Project. The contract is a limited liabilitybinding only on the funds and rev-enues of Mary Greeley MedicalCenter and shall not be a generalobligation of the City of Ames, Io-wa.

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THEMUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OFAMES, IOWA, BY REPEALING SEC-TION 28.31(296) AND ENACTING ANEW SECTION 28.31(296) THERE-OF, FOR THE PURPOSE OF AMEND-ING THE PARKING REGULATIONSON WESTBROOK DRIVE;REPEALING ANY AND ALL ORDI-NANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINAN-CES IN CONFLICT TO THE EXTENTOF SUCH CONFLICT; PROVIDING APENALTY; AND ESTABLISHING ANEFFECTIVE DATE.

BE IT ENACTED, by the City Coun-cil for the City of Ames, Iowa, that: Section One. The MunicipalCode of the City of Ames, Iowashall be and the same is herebyamended by enacting a new Sec-tion 18.31(296) as follows:“Sec. 18.31. REGULATIONS FORSPECIFIC STREETS OR LOCATIONS. . . .(296) WESTBROOK DRIVE. Parkingis prohibited at all times on thenorth side of Westbrook Drivefrom its intersection with HickoryDrive to the west end ofWestbrook Drive.”. . . Section Two. Violation of theprovisions of this ordinance shallconstitute a municipal infractionpunishable as set out by law. Section Three. All ordinances, orparts of ordinances, in conflictherewith are hereby repealed tothe extent of such conflict, if any. Section Four.
