Cara Carper, Exec. Dir., Green
Co. Development Corp., gave us
an all-encompassing review of
that group’s activities.
Because we have no 4-lane road
leading to Green County, we are
bypassed by companies seeking
to relocate. Cara said that now
the focus is “growing our own.”
So the GCDC emphasizes local
development and offers busi-
ness development assistance.
She noted that GCDC helped 7
businesses in 2017, and 51 in
2018!
The group’s consultants (see
next page) give training pro-
grams on balance sheets, insur-
ance, finding employees, etc.
GCDC also tapped into UW to get
grad students (some 300!)
working on projects within the
county environs.
