Dear 'Ray:
Kilohana Wells 0, H t I, and J, Kauai
In response to your request for our recommendations concerning the _ recently completed Kilohana Wells G, H. 1, and J, we offer our comments below. based on a review of the pumping test dElta submitted to us by your office.
Well G - '-'''-
Well -0 was final-tested on July 27 - August 1, 1981 at pumping rates of 100 to 250 gpm with drawdowns ranging as high as 57 feet. Based on the results of this test, we recommend that the installed pump capacity be set at 200 gpm and the top of pump bowls be set at 50 fed lJelO\\l static water level. I Well H 7'q'Z.~ -o~ ..... ~,..h:::>~1iU>
This well was pump tested on September 30. 1982, at a rate of 95 gpm \',,'ith 100 feet of drawdown. The dr"i.'<'iUOrm etll'\"<:'. showc;d It steady and excessive dowIlw'ard trend throug"llOut tik L;:.,L r)('l·i')i..~; L::,( therefore. the well cannot produce 95 gpm, even thou~h it is 11 low rate. \;e recommend that the well be abandoned as a non-productive well.
Well I
Well I was pump tested at rates of 230 to 955 gpm between January 12 and February 5. 1982. The v~llious tests indicate an unusually high specific well capacity for Koloa lavas, (approximately 180 gpm per foot of drawdown). However, the drawdowns in adjacent Wells B and F were almost identical to that in Well I. which was being pumped. indicating there will be interference of drawdowns between the three wells if they are pumped simultaneously. We suggest that the installed pump capacity be set
-, :. ~~ :~/,.
. .; .~~, ~.:E:/jJ·~~,~~'l Mr. Raymond Sate
anywhere between 500 and 700 gpm. rather than at the tested rate of 955 gpm, because the long-term safe yield of the aquifer and its relationship to the Garlinghouse Tunnel source cannot be determined at thi~ time. The top of pump bowls should be set at least 30 feet below static water level.
Well J
Well J was pump tested on May 10-11, 1982, at a rate of 50 to 100 r;pm. The results of the test shm' that Well J is capable of producing 50 gpm. Because Well J is located within your tank site, it would seem feasible for you to cap the well and reserve it as a usable 50 gpm source t should the need arise in the future. In that event, we suggest the top of pump bowls be set~ '10 feet below static water leVel.
We -hope-~~ourcomments are helpful to you and if you have any questions t please let me know.

Per your request of November 12, 1981, we are submitting the following:
1) Completed DRILLER1S REPORT, DOWALD Form 71(1) 2) Pumping Test Data 3) IIAs-Built ll drawing of the well
Kilohana Well IIHII was drilled to a depth of 240 feet; a 52-hour pump test was condu~ted on the uncased well, and a specific yield of 0.93 gpm/foot of drawdown was obtained.
Due to this very low yield, all remaining work was discontinued and deleted from the construction contract.
Therefore, the development of this high-level water source with pump, controls, pump house and connecting pipelines is uncertain at this time.
Should there be any questions, please call Mel Matsumura at
