Lemelson Early Inventor Prize The 2019 Lemelson Early Inventor Prize, sponsored by the Lemelson Foundation, will provide a $100 award and a certificate to a young inventor creating a promising solution to real world problems. Mu Alpha Theta Mu Alpha Theta (National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society) will provide one award to the individual or group project (9-12th grade) demonstrating the most challenging, original, thorough, and creative investigation of a problem involving mathematics accessible to a High School student. NASA EARTH System Science Award This award will go to the one individual whose project offers the greatest insight into earth’s interconnected systems. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) “Taking the Pulse of the Planet Award” This award will go to the one project (Junior or Senior division) selected from among all the general award categories whose research emphasizes NOAA’s mission of Science, Service and Stewardship: “To understand and predict changes in climate, weather, oceans, and coasts; to share that knowledge and information with others; and to conserve and manage coastal and marine ecosystems and resources.” RECIPIENT: Anna Burcham, St. Joseph Catholic School
Office of Naval Research - (U.S. Navy/ U.S. Marine Corps) The Office of Naval Research is committed to supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives and programs, and will recognize two students (Grade 9-12) with a Certificate of Achievement, Medallion and an Award Letter (redeemable with TMT Group, Inc. for gift cards valued at $50). Southeast Missouri Dental Society The Southeast Missouri Dental Society, in addition to a donation to the general science fair fund, will provide a cash award to the outstanding project in the senior division ($100) and junior division ($25) showing outstanding creativeness, scientific thought and thoroughness. Dentistry is an amalgam of many scientific disciplines and the award is not restricted to a particular field of study. U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize The Stockholm Junior Water Prize will be presented to a student, grade 9-12, with a science project aimed at enhancing the quality of life through the improvement of water quality, water resource management, or water and wastewater treatment. Student will then be eligible to enter the state Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition. Yale Science and Engineering Association The Yale Science & Engineering Association, Inc. will recognize the most outstanding 11th grade project exhibiting in the areas of Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics. BROADCOM MASTERS The Broadcom MASTERS (Math, Applied Science, Technology and Engineering for Rising Stars) is a competition for 6-8th grade students who participate in an SSP-affiliated fair. As a nominee, students are eligible to register and complete an on-line application to compete nationally for valuable prizes and awards. From these entrants, the top 300 MASTERS will be announced on September 4, 2019. Thirty of the 300 MASTERS will be named finalists on September 18, 2019 and will participate in the finals and win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC to compete in Finalist Week from October 25 – 30, 2019.

TOP EIGHTH GRADE STUDENT This student will attend the 70th International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix, AZ May 12-17, 2019 as an observer and as part of the official party from the Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair. RECIPIENT: Klete Beel, Leopold R-3
DR. E. LAWRENCE BAHN MEMORIAL FUND will be awarded to a student who is participating in the current Regional Science Fair and is a senior from an approved public, parochial, or private school within the boundaries of the Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair. The student must declare his/her sincere intention of enrolling as a full-time student at Southeast Missouri State University. The recipient will be chosen by satisfying the above criteria and accumulating points in the Science Fairs. The student will not receive the award if he or she does not enroll at Southeast the next Fall semester. RECIPIENT: Hunter Timmons, Kennett High School
