Scriptural Rosary A Scriptural Rosary recital is held at 8:30 am on the first Saturday of each month in the chapel. In the Scriptural Rosary, one or two lines from the Bible, appropriate to the rosary decade being meditated on, are said before each Hail Mary. Dedications for personal and family intentions are welcome. Please bring your family, children and friends on April 7. All are welcome. You may join in saying The Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be or just pray along silently. You will find this is an easy and concise way to meditate on the mystery of Christ’s life, a refreshing way to start the weekend, and pray to our Blessed Mother. The rosary is supported by the Prince of Peace Knights of Columbus Council 11537.
The Prince of Peace community would like to express their sympathy to Pat Salamone and Gloria Saab on the death of their mother, Frances Salamone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sister Margaret Grennan, known to many past students of St. Joseph’s in Ensley as Sister DeLourdes, passed away in Ireland on March 6. Please keep her, her family and her religious order in your prayers.
We will not have Eucharistic Adoration on Holy Thursday.
Columbarium Everyone needs a final resting place, and Prince of Peace is able to accommodate this need. Family and friends can
conveniently visit departed loved ones in a peaceful venue. The cost of a niche in the columbarium is $2,295.00. This price
includes: the selection of your niche location within those being offered, accommodations for 2 sets of inurned cremains, the initial engraving of
the niche face plate and the perpetual care of the site. Information pertaining to the columbarium is available on our website,
www.popcatholic.org, or you may call the parish office at 205.822.9125 ext. 10.

Daily Prayer The most important prayer in the Catholic lexicon is the Mass. Daily Mass is offered at Prince of Peace at various times. Please avail yourself of as many opportunities to worship the Lord as you can. At the center of the Mass is the “source and summit of our faith,” the Holy Eucharist. Fr. Fallon is fond of reminding us that the Eucharist is “food for the journey”. “Arise and eat, else the journey will be too long for you”, the angel tells Elijah. This is our charge from the Lord as well. “There is nothing so great as the Eucharist. If God had something more precious, He would have given it to us.” St. John Vianney
One of the great traditions of the Catholic experience is the recognition of our unity in the Body of Christ with the saints. Two of the most popular saints have their feast days in the middle of March, St. Patrick on the 17th and St. Joseph on the 19th. The marvelous morning prayer of St. Patrick, his “Breastplate” is available in the collections of Catholic prayers as well as on-line. A prayer to St. Joseph is:
O Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. O Saint Joseph, assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. O Saint Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. Amen. O Saint Joseph, hear my prayers and obtain my petitions. O Saint Joseph, pray for me. (Mention your intention.)
Prince of Peace has many opportunities for developing your devotional life. The Way of the Cross is prayed at 5:30 pm on Fridays during Lent. This journey with the Lord from the Praetorium to the Tomb is a stirring reminder of the sacrifice that Jesus willingly undertook for us. A second devotional practice available year-round is recitation of the Rosary before the 6:30 pm Mass on Mondays. Please join us as we pray “…that, while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise.” We are blessed to have available the opportunity to visit with the Lord in Eucharistic Adoration on Thursdays from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm in the chapel. You can sign up for a regular time, or simply drop by as your schedule permits. Jesus waits for us in love, “Come let us adore Him.”
Please remember, in these and your private devotions, to pray for the Holy Father’s prayer intentions. The general intention for April is: that many young people may hear the call of Christ and follow him in the priesthood and religious life. The missionary intention for April is: that the risen Christ may be a sign of certain hope for the men and women of the African continent.

Stewardship: Parishioners Answering God’s Call A retired parishioner decided to put his hands-on skills to use by regularly spending time at Prince of Peace performing a variety of tasks. He can be seen repairing chairs, pew kneelers and steps; re-staining trim, organizing the pantry, hanging pictures, etc. Many of the same routine tasks that are needed to be done in our own individual homes, he has done for us here in our church home. Most of us never even know that these tasks get done nor by whom. Just a parishioner….exemplifying stewardship, without any expectation of reward or recognition. Help us! Please submit your stewardship story examples to [email protected]. They may be edited for space consideration.
Casting Lots for the Seamless Garment (John 19:23-24)
Catholic Vision and Values #2 “The Dignity of the Human Person (continued)- “From our recognition of the worth of all people under God flow the responsibilities of a social morality. Catholic social doctrine is based on two truths about the human person: Human life is both sacred and social. Because we esteem human life as sacred, we have a duty to protect and foster it at all stages of development, from conception to death, and in all circumstances. Because we acknowledge that human life is also social, we must develop the kind of societal environment that protects and fosters its development.” “It is clearly inadequate simply to say that human life is sacred and to explain why this is so. It is also necessary to examine and respond to the challenges to the unique dignity and sacredness of human life today. Human life has always been sacred, and there have always been threats to it. However, we live in a period of history when we have produced, sometimes with the best of intentions, a technology and a capacity to threaten and diminish human life which previous generations could not even imagine.” (Cardinal Joseph Bernardine, Address to the National Consultation on Obscenity, Pornography, and Indecency, Cincinnati, Sept. 6, 1984) If interested in becoming involved with the Seamless Garment Committee, call Tom & Elsbeth Germanson at 565.3456.
Bread and Roses On Sunday, April 8, a group from Prince of Peace will serve lunch to the needy at the Church of the Reconciler. This is a wonderful opportunity to put into practice the Stewardship Pillars of Service and Hospitality. Volunteers are needed to provide food and desserts and help serve the meal on that Sunday. If you would like to help with this worthwhile ministry, please call Carol Binder at 205.822.5305.
