GENERAL NOTES
100-P01 COORDINATION OF PROJECTS: A number of other construction projects will be under contract and taking place within the highway right of way during the 2017 construction season which may be in the vicinity of this project. It is the contractor’s responsibility to coordinate his activities, schedules and traffic control with all other contractors working within the highway right of way.
107-100 LAWS TO BE OBSERVED: All or a portion of this project lies within the exterior boundaries of an Indian Reservation. Review laws and ordinances pertaining to the work contained within the boundaries of the reservation.
704-P01 TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES: The Traffic Control Devices List has been developed using the following layouts of the Standard Drawings for traffic control.
Traffic control devices will comply with the following Standard Drawings:
D-704-23 Type P
D-704-24 Type U: For sign installation when shoulder closure is needed on a State Highway.
D-704-24 Type HH and Type R for shoulder closures on Divided Highways and cross Roads.
D-704-24 Type S for work beyond the shoulder on cross roads.
D 704-25 Type V for Lane Closures on Urban Streets
D-704-25 Type W for work beyond the curb on Urban Streets
The required traffic control signs and devices shown on the Standard Drawings will be paid for at the unit price for the bid item “Traffic Control Signs”. The unit quantity is
based on three set ups of each of the situations. Should the contractor choose to utilize more than three crews requiring the signing of more than three locations at a time, no additional payment will be made for the additional signing required. The cost of any additional devices required to accommodate the Contractor’s operations are included in the unit price bid for “Traffic Control Signs”.
754-P01 SIGNS AND SUPPORTS: Dispose of removed sign material, that is not reset or noted to be returned to the District, according to Section 107.17 Removed Material.
Install sign panels on w-shape and pipe supports with the bottom of the sign at the hinge joint as shown on Standard Drawings D-754-6 (pipe) and D-754-13 (w-shape.)Cut supports to top of sign panels when posts are longer than necessary. Include cost for cutting supports in the contract unit price for "Panel for Signs-Type _".
754-P02 ROUTE MARKER ASSEMBLIES: When replacing route marker assemblies the following mounting order should be used:
1. Where two or more routes follow the same section of highway, the route signs for Interstate, U.S., State, and county routes will be mounted in that order from the left in horizontal arrangements and from the top in vertical arrangements. Route signs will also follow this order of precedence with lower-numbered routes placed at the left or top.
2. Within groups of assemblies, information for routes intersecting from the left are mounted at the left in horizontal arrangements and at the top or center of vertical arrangements. Similarly, information for routes intersecting from the right shall be at the right or bottom, and for straight-through routes at the center in horizontal arrangements or top in vertical arrangements.
754-P03 SIGN ANCHORS: Install traffic control tubes or markers taller than the grass to mark sign anchors that are installed and left unattended. Install a new anchor and/or support at no additional cost to replace anchors or supports that are damaged prior to the installation of the remaining sign material.
754-P04 SIGN MOUNTING HEIGHT: The sign mounting height on this project varies by sign location and roadway classification. Sections of highway with curb or adjacent pedestrian facilities will have a typical mounting height of 7’. Sections of highway without curb or pedestrian facilities adjacent will have a typical mounting height of 5’ except as noted below:
- I-29 and ramps – 7’ mounting height - US 52 from RP 252.0 to RP 264.0 – 7’ mounting height - US 83 from RP 91.00 to 142.00 – 7’ mounting height - I-94 and ramps – 7’ mounting height - ND 810 from RP 0.00 to 1.00 – 7’ mounting height
See Std Drawing D-754-1 for more details.
754-P05 OVERHEAD SIGNS: Mounting of overhead is limited to the hours of 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
