Grade Grandparent’s Day
World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day is celebrated on Friday, November 13, 2020. This
coincides with Red Sweater Day in honor of Mr. Rogers, who was an advocate
for spreading kindness and acceptance to others.
Students and staff are invited to wear a red sweater with uniform bottoms this
Friday to support the kindness cause. Students will also have the opportunity
to send “Kindness-grams” to other students to spread kindness around our
school.
Remember to be kind!
HFS Annual Food Drive – Ending November 15
Holy Family School is holding its Annual Food Drive
which will end November 15. It is so important for
us to help and support our local food banks during
this time of year because we all have so many
blessings. The kids can bring in canned goods, rice,
beans, peanut butter, jelly, etc. and place them in
boxes in the main hallway.
Santa Pictures – November 18th
Students will be coming home with picture order forms today. Please make your selection and
send back with your child to school. These pictures with Santa will be next Wednesday, November
18th for Pre-K3 – 8th Grade.
Veteran’s Day Program
Friday, November 20, 2020
Next Friday, November 20th at 1:30 pm, we will be honoring our Veterans in the Holy Family
Church. This year, due to COVID restrictions, only Veterans and their spouses will be seated in
church. Each grade level will proceed in the church, perform a song, and then exit. There will be a
small reception afterwards for Veterans.
If you have not completed the form below and returned to school, please do so ASAP.
Girl Scout Troop 10018 Blessing Bags
Holy Family Girl Scout Troop 10018 will be making
blessing bags to provide for the homeless at their
November meeting. If you would like to donate, please
send items to school marked Troop 10018. Suggestions
for Items are travel size hygiene items such as
toothpaste/ toothbrush, soap, deodorant, lotion, or
Chapstick; gloves, socks, and granola/ breakfast bars. We
also accept monetary donations and checks can be made
out to Troop 10018.
Please send items by November 13.
Kendra Scott Gives Back
We are excited to welcome our newest faculty member, Ms. Katherine Campbell. She will be 8B’s homeroom teacher and will be teaching all
of middle school Grammar and Writing.
She is a graduate of ULL and has prior teaching experience with undergraduates. Her passion is writing and she is thrilled to have the
opportunity to work with our kids on understanding grammar basics, essay outlining, and how and when to use vocabulary properly.
Ms. Campbell has this to say about joining our HFS Family: “I am honored and excited to join the HFS family and have the opportunity to
positively influence students’ lives. I am both encouraged and inspired by the school’s dedication to ensuring that each student reaches their
full academic potential while also prioritizing their spiritual growth and capacity for compassion.”

3rd Grade Litany of Saints
In Religion, the 3rd Graders
were given the opportunity
to choose a saint and
research that saint. They
then created a portrait using
a symbol that represented
that particular saint. Their
creative work is on display in
the main hall for the entire
school to see.
2020 Christmas Program Important Information
This year’s Christmas program will look a little different as it has in past years. Each class will be
performing a song and you will have the opportunity to view the entire school performance
virtually. There will be a professional video available for pre-purchase at a cost of $7 per family. An
order form will be sent at a later date.
More information on this to come soon. Your child’s teacher may be contacting you in regards to
planned class attire for the program.
2nd Grade Election
On Tuesday, November 3rd, our 2nd Grade students held a mock election based
on the book “Grace for President.” The students explored what an election is,
the voting process, and what they can do to help until they are old enough to
vote. Each student was able to fill out a voter’s registration card before voting
for their favorite candidate. After voting, they put on the buttons they created
as well. Other grades also had the opportunity to vote.
Home & School Marketplace
We are so excited to have our Home and School Marketplace ready to receive orders! Your child
will be coming home with an order form this week. If you wish to place an order, please submit
the form with your payment and return it to school at any time. Orders will be filled each week as
stated on the form.
Supporting our local Veterans
Mrs. Jenna Landry organized the opportunity for some of our students to help make Veteran’s Day a little more special for some of our local Veterans. Our 3rd Graders made cards and
poppies to send to the Veteran’s at Legacy of Port Allen Nursing and Rehab Center. This was such a special way for our students to honor and make a difference in the lives of the Veterans in our
community.
