Clinical Concepts and Conundrums in Pediatric Hospital Medicine
PURPOSE/TARGET AUDIENCE
This conference is designed for all health care professionals who participate in the care and management of sick children and neonates. A case based format will be used to review and discuss the etiology, diagnosis, and management of critically ill infants and children.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
• Develop a diagnostic plan and approach for a variety of inpatient pediatric conundrums.
• Describe currently recommended diagnostic & treatment strategies for community acquired pneumonia in the U.S.
• Review the evidence that supports the CDC guidelines regarding treatment of infants whose mothers have chorioamnionitis.
• Explain a rational approach to the inpatient child with abdominal pain.
• Describe three strategies that can enable achieving targeted improvement outcomes in inpatient settings.
• Diagnose and subsequently manage common inpatient cardiac issues/events in the pediatric population.
• Describe how high altitude influences the care of children with common respiratory diseases and high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE).

Children’s Hospital Colorado is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The conference will be held in the Yale conference room, Children’s Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. CANCELLATION POLICY
Online refunds may be processed through February 24th, 2013 minus a $25 cancellation fee. After this date no refunds will be granted for non-attendance, although you may send a substitute. The Planning Committee reserves the right to alter the agenda or cancel the conference in the event of an unforeseen circumstance, or if the minimum registration is not attained by February 24th with a full refund to participants.
