ROSARY AROUND THE WORLD This Tuesday, May8TH -7:00 P.M.
This May the parish will honor Mary through praying the “Rosary from Around the World”. What we need now are parishioners who can recite the Hail Mary or Our Father in another language. Last year it was very nice. If you feel better, joining with one or two others feel free. Prior to the prayer, Fr. Tony will have cards indicating your part in the rosary. You can collect one of these when arriving. If you prefer not leading any part of the rosary, please still join us to honor Mary with this beautiful tribute. Rosary Around the World will conclude with our crowning of Mary. Then the annual ice-cream social will follow and will be our parish time to recognize our First Communicants.. All are invited.
Memorial Flower Donations To celebrate the memory of a loved one, you may make a donation for the flowers and plants which will be used to decorate our church for the Feast of Pentecost on Sunday, May 20. Red geraniums and other plants will be planted on the parish grounds to remind us of the gift of the Spirit throughout the summer. All donations will be used for altar beautification, the Memorial Garden and parish grounds throughout the year. We are not asking for a specific donation amount. Just give according to your resources. Please place your donation in the special pink envelope included in your box of offertory envelopes (dated Sunday, May 6). Make sure to clearly PRINT the name(s) of the person you want to be listed in memoriam. You may drop the envelope in next Sunday’s Collection or bring it directly to the parish office during the week. Please submit your envelope by next Sunday, May 13th.
From Deacon Jerry’s Desk I have a friend, a parishioner, that hands me interesting articles regarding life issues and faith. Here is one I would like to share with you (author unknown).
Saying Grace A visiting priest was attending a men’s breakfast in Ohio farm country. He asked one of the impressive older farmers in attendance to say grace that morning. After all were seated, the older farmer began…”Lord, I hate buttermilk.” The priest opened one eye and wondered to himself where this was going. Then the farmer loudly proclaimed “Lord, I hate lard!” Now the priest was overly worried. However, without missing a beat, the farmer prayed on. “And Lord, you know I don’t care much for raw white flour.” Just as the priest was ready to stand and stop everything, the farmer continued, “But Lord, when you mix ‘em all together and bake ‘em up, I do love fresh biscuits. So Lord, when things come up we don’t like, when life gets hard when we just don’t understand what you are sayin’ to us, we just need to relax and wait ‘till You are done mixin’, and probably it will be something’ even better than biscuits. Amen.”
“As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round.” AND REMEMBER WHO MADE THE ROSES!!
The Knight’s Ultrasound “Baby Bottle” Drive
May 19/20
The Knights of Columbus has made every effort to stop the abortion of so many young, vulnerable babies. They have discovered something that will change the minds of 85% to 95% of the women who are contemplating an abortion. The identity of this method is the “Ultrasound machine”. This device enable a mother-to-be to actually SEE the life that is within her body either sucking his/her thumb, moving around, kicking his/her feet, or simply sleeping peacefully and hearing the beat of his/her tiny heart. After witnessing these miraculous events it becomes impossible to proceed with the plan of an abortion. The Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative will enable Councils throughout the State to fund ultrasound machines for women’s healthcare clinics. The goal is to provide a qualified Pregnancy Center an ultrasound machine which enables each mother “a window into the womb” in order to witness the miracle of life growing within her body. Through this Initiative, since 2009, state and local K. of C. councils have teams up with the Supreme Council to fund about 900 ultrasound machines, costing approximately $44 million, for placement in prolife pregnancy care centers in all 50 states and Canada. More next week…..

Youth Ministry Corner A huge heartfelt thanks to our youth and young adults for sharing your talents and leading us in worship last Sun-day at our Youth Mass! Thanks also to our parents for en-couraging your young people in their faith and to our pa-rishioners for your love and support. It definitely takes a village to do youth ministry. It was a beautiful liturgy and I truly look forward to the next one! :-)
Mother’s Day Bake Sale Next Weekend! The Teen Forum will be offering a variety of delicious baked goods at all three of our Mother’s Day Masses next weekend! We also plan to have several of our famous pep-peroni rolls for purchase. There will be something for eve-ryone! We also welcome any donations of baked goods from our parishioners for the sale (if you are able, please bring them to the cafeteria on Saturday, May 12th, between 11am and 1pm while we are baking – if you can’t, Sunday works, too. Thank you!) Pro-ceeds will go toward our many Youth Ministry efforts. As always, a million thank you’s to our parishioners who are so supportive of our CGS youth!
Junior High Youth Group Our last Junior High Youth Group meeting for the school year will be held on Tuesday, May 15th, from 6pm-7:30pm in the Parish Center. All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade youth are welcome to join us!
Would You Like to Sponsor a World Youth Day Pilgrim? Our pilgrim sponsorship and biography boards are finally up in the Gath-ering Area! We invite our parishioners to sponsor our youth traveling to World Youth Day, Panama and to have your prayer requests taken with us to be blessed by Pope Francis. How do you do it? It’s easy! Simply choose an envelope from the board and write your name and prayer requests on the “pilgrim footprint” inside. Place the footprint back into the envelope along with the sponsorship donation amount printed on the outside and return the envelope to the Parish Office or offertory basket (sponsorship amounts range from $1 to $100 – every little bit helps)! Know that we will be praying for you throughout our time of preparation and at World Youth Day in Panama. When we return, you will be invited to a gathering to see photos and hear stories from our pilgrimage!

Apparitions at
Fatima, Portugal This is the 101st anniversary of the first apparition of our Blessed Mother to the three children of Fat-ima on May 13, 1917. Our Lady appeared to the three children Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta at noon on the 13th day of the month for six consecutive months. She told the children to say the rosary daily for world peace. She told the children I will tell you in succeeding apparitions who I am and what I want.
The Women of Good Shepherd would like to thank all who helped make our luncheon a success. Whether you gave donation, worked the luncheon or worked on cleaning up after, we appreciate all of your help. Most of all we want to thank those who came to the luncheon. We hope that you en-joyed the food and fellowship

Opportunity! Is there anyone or any group up to a gardening challenge? There’s a small corner section of garden located between the parish office and activities building that is in need of some weeding and mulch-ing. It could be a beautiful little garden and has a lovely statue and plants - all it needs is some love! We would provide the mulch and weed preventer (Preen?). Work on it as your time permits. Call the parish office if you are interested - or come take a peek and check it out.
