Volume 155 September 2016

Hello fellow club members:

Summer is almost over! But Winter is not here yet, and we will see 100F yet again this year. Now we (Linda & I) are training in the heat for longer summer bike rides. Specifically, a bike and barge trip in Italy we bought at a large discount at the FWSA convention. I also enjoyed last month’s A’s game, BAC BBQ, and fireworks show in addition to a great dinner at Cook’s “Man Cave” club meeting.

MSC is an active social club and we have activities (active activities) for all members scheduled year round. We still have an autumn bike ride, kayaking, and our backyard meetings on our schedule. In addition to our scheduled events, we can use our Lodge as a base for golfing, and biking or hiking over the high Sierras and around Tahoe. I have observed that skiers love to be active and enjoy life to its fullest.

Lodge cleanup weekend is Sep 23-25 at the Lodge in Truckee. This is a great social weekend with food provided, to deep clean the Lodge, restock firewood, and get acquainted with fellow club members. We also bring our bikes for a Sunday morning bike ride around Tahoe.

Our next meeting will be at Bogetti’s home out at 745 McCracken Rd, Vernalis. This is in the orchard. This is a not to be missed opportunity to dine with fellow skiers who like to enjoy a party and trade stories of ski plans for the coming winter. To ensure adequate food, please RSVP to the host prior to the meeting and indicate what you will be contributing for the meal.

Our Membership Mixer meeting is again at John’s Incredible Pizza Parlor on Oct 11. This is our annual membership renewal, and welcome new members, club meeting.

This club has lots of summer activities to keep you alive, if you survive the activity. In addition you do need to plan the coming years ski trips: FWSA Ski Week at Breckenridge, (15 are signed up already, do not be left out), BAC Park City UT Ski Trip, Sun Peaks in Canada, and International Ski trips by FWSA (available on the www.fwsa.org web site).

Check out this newsletter for all the details of meetings, activities, trips, and other coming attractions. (They can change occasionally).

MODESTO SKI CLUB LODGE NEWS

Fall is upon us! I can feel it in the air. Hope everyone has enjoyed this past summer even with so many days of 100+ degree weather. There still is plenty of great weather left to enjoy a trip to the Lodge and fun activities the Truckee area has to offer.

Reminder the Work Weekend is September 23-25, 2016. Let me know if you are interested in participating. I will need a count 4 days prior so I can plan the menu and shop for food to feed all the hungry worker’s. Best to email me to RSVP. [email protected]

Please be aware that the upcoming Winter and Year Key Passes will be available to purchase AFTER you have renewed your membership. Our new fiscal year starts November 1, 2016. Lodge keys will be available after that date to purchase…NOT BEFORE. There will be a price change from what the amount has been in the past and the amount has not yet been determined. If anyone has sent me a payment for a Lodge Key for next year I will return your check and you will have to reissue one after November 1, 2016. Thanks for your cooperation in advance.

Please let me know if anything at the Lodge needs attention when you are staying at the Lodge. Just call me or send an email to alert me of what needs to be addressed.

Thanks!

2016 MSC MEETINGS

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: We had a great attendance at our last summer BBQ. It’s wonderful to see so many people engaged and attending. However, I would like to draw serious attention to a problem we, as a club, have with RSVP’ing. For our August 9th BBQ, 48 hours before the event, only 23 people had RSVP’d that they would be in attendance. We ended up with 58 attendees! It is extremely difficult to plan and prepare if our members do not RSVP in a timely fashion. Please, show respect and appreciation for our hosts by taking 30 seconds out of your schedule to give them a call or shoot them an email if you plan to attend. Thank you so much for your considerate attention to this problem.
