EXHIBITOR PRE-REGISRATION: Online through September 9 at www.etstatefair.com
EXHIBITS RECEIVED: Thursday, September 10, 3:30-6:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 12, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
JUDGING: Week of September 13- Results may be viewed after the Fair opens ONLY.
EXHIBITS RELEASED: Monday, October 5, 1:00 – 6:30 p.m. in Building A
Tuesday, October 6 through Wednesday, October 7, 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in Building A

After the Fair - Monday - Wednesday, October 5-7 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
All entries in the Department will be subject to General Rules and Regulations of the East Texas State Fair. 1. Every care will be taken of articles exhibited, but ETSF will not be responsible for properties entered. 2. No items will be accepted that are distasteful, suggestive, offensive or controversial. 3. All pieces for exhibit must be brought to the Creative Arts Building (Building A) on the designated days.
Entries will NOT be accepted by mail or other delivery and will not be accepted early. 4. All articles except antiques and hobbies entered in competition in this department must have been made
within the last two years, and can only be exhibited in the name of the individual making the item. 5. Youth Safety: The expectation is that crafts which would require the use of tools or equipment typically
unsafe for use by youth will be used under the supervision of an adult, but the primary work in creating the item will be that of the youth involved.
6. See page 11 for Canned Foods Guidelines. 7. Any articles that have been previously exhibited for competition during any East Texas State Fair will
not be accepted. Items that have taken premiums in a previous East Texas State Fair may be displayed if space permits.
8. Each exhibitor is permitted two different entries in each class, except in most classes of the Canning Divisions or where other limits apply. In miscellaneous classes in Canning, two different items may be entered.
9. When a Miscellaneous Class is offered, any items must be those that do not have a class available and should not be duplicates of items entered by the exhibitor in other classes or divisions.
10. Entry must be the work of the person named as Exhibitor. 11. Exhibitors entering articles in Youth Divisions or Sections must meet age specifications. 12. Teachers and professionals may leave a business card to place by exhibit after judging. 13. Teachers and professionals are not eligible for Premier Exhibitor honors. An Outstanding Professional
Exhibitor may be awarded when appropriate at the discretion of the Creative Arts Committee. 14. The prize awarded to any item is at the discretion of the judges for the Division. 15. A fair and impartial arrangement of pictures and articles for advantageous showing will be made as
conditions permit. Due to limited space, all pictures must be framed and wired for hanging. Wood frames are preferred. No Saw tooth hangers, please. Canvas wrapped boards with “lip” for hanging may be accepted if item can be hung safely. Frames without glass are preferred in all Divisions.
16. A specimen must be an article entirely finished. 17. All home improvement articles, such as quilts, rugs, etc., and all clothing must be clean. An article that is
soiled, shows wear or is unfit for exhibition will not be accepted. 18. Exhibitors may not remove their entries until the designated release days. All exhibits must remain in
place until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, and must be checked out by Tuesday, October 6. 19. Entries can be obtained only by presentation of claim check to Creative Arts Coordinators in Building A
according to the schedule outlined above. All exhibit items not claimed by October 7, 2015, will be disposed of at the discretion of the East Texas State Fair.

PREMIUMS
Youth and Special Populations Premiums For all youth classes, the following premiums will be paid:
1st Place - $3.00 2nd Place - $2.00 3rd Place - $1.00 Section TriColor - $5.00 to replace 1st Place
Adult Premiums (Does NOT include Special Populations)
Section TriColors - $20.00 Premier Exhibitors - $25.00 TriColors are not awarded if there are no other entries in the section.
NO premiums will be paid for 1st Place, 2nd Place, or 3rd Place awards in individual adult classes.
4 Adult Premier Exhibitors will be selected based on accumulated points in certain divisions or classes. Culinary Arts: Division B Crafts & Hobbies: Divisions L, M, and N; portions of Divisions C, I, and R Fine Arts: Divisions K, P, and some classes in R Needle Arts: Divisions D, H, Q, S, U, and portions in Divisions C, I, and R
Teachers and professionals are NOT eligible for Premier Exhibitor honors. A Premier Professional Exhibitor may be awarded when appropriate at the discretion of the Creative Arts Committee. Group projects are not included in calculation of points. A Premier Group Exhibitor may be awarded to a group exhibiting in a large number of Divisions at the discretion of the Committee.
Premier Exhibitor points will be accumulated as follows: 1st Place = 4 points 2nd Place = 3 points 3rd Place = 2 points Honorable Mention = 1 point. TriColor = 1 point Youth Premier Exhibitor Honors may be awarded by age groups and will receive $10.00.
Guidelines for Canned Food 1. Canned items will be in standard glass containers, such as Mason, Ball, and Kerr jars. 2. Canned items must have been canned October 2014 or later by the exhibitor submitting the entry. 3. Canned food is NOT opened and tasted. 4. There will be only one jar per exhibitor in each class. Duplicate jars of a particular item may NOT be
entered under Miscellaneous. 5. Vegetables, Fruits, Juices, Meats, and Sauces may be canned in quarts and pints. 6. Jams, Jellies, Pickles, Relishes, and Butters may be canned in quarts, pints, 1/2 pints, or jelly jars. 7. All items submitted should be canned using appropriate methods of canning. 8. There must be no rusted lids. 9. All “screw rings” (rims) must be removed before entering.
10. Based on recommended canning guidelines, ¼ inch head space should be allowed for juices, jellies, jams.
pickles and relishes. Low acid foods such as vegetables and meats require 1 inch of head space. High acid
foods, tomatoes and fruits, need ½ inch of head space and must be below the liquid..
11. All jars must be clean on the outside. 12. Jars with popped lids or open lids will not be accepted. All lids must be sealed closed. 13. No warm jars will be accepted. 14. Each jar entered should have the following information taped to the top of the jar. Name of the Food, Method of Food Preservation, Date Preserved, Canner’s Experience Examples: ° Peaches, hot pack, boiling water canner, 20 minutes. July 13, 2015, First Time Canner.
° Spaghetti sauce, hot pack, pressure canner, 11 pounds pressure, 45 minutes. July 14, 2015, Experienced Canner. 13. No personal names will be allowed on the jars.

Section A - Adults, Ages 18 and Older
Adult Points apply to Crafts & Hobbies Premiere Exhibitor Items entered must be at least 50 years old and item must be owned by the exhibitor.
Include a card giving the age of the item and other historical information. This is not a factor in determining placing Articles must be small enough to display on cabinet shelves. Larger items are accepted ONLY if display space is available.
Space for articles larger than 2 feet wide x 16 inches long and 12 inches tall are limited. Articles previously exhibited for competition during any East Texas State Fair will not be accepted.

All entries must be the work of the exhibitor. Copies of non-original photographs or of other artists’ paintings will be in the “Copies Class” only. Work done from photographs taken by the artist, friends, or family may be entered as original work. All paintings and drawings must have been completed within the last two years. Only 6 paintings per artist will be accepted.
Entries must be framed and hung by wires - no saw tooth Hangers. Please leave 6 inch slack in wire on back of entry to allow for easier hanging. Wood frames are preferred. It is preferred that glass be removed to prevent possibility of breakage.

BALL ® Fresh Preserving TM Award - Adult Level
A panel of judges will select the two best entries submitted by an adult for Fruit, Vegetable, Pickle, and Soft Spread categories. Entries must be preserved in Ball® or Ball® Collection Elite ® Jars sealed with Ball® Lids and Bands or Ball® Lids and Bands or Ball® Collection Elite® Lids and Bands. In addition, soft spread entries will be limited to recipes prepared using Ball® Pectin: Original, No Sugar Needed or Liquid.
Entries designated First Place from each category will receive the following from Alltrista Consumer Products:
Two (2) Five Dollar ($5.00) Coupons for Ball® or Kerr® FreshPreservingTM Products and one (1) Three – Dollar ($3.00) Coupon for Ball® Simple Creations® Products.
Entries designated Second Place from each category will receive the following from Alltrista Consumer Products:
Two (2) Five-Dollar ($5.00) Coupons for Ball® or Kerr® FreshPreservingTM Products
FreshPreserving awards are mailed to the recipients several weeks after the Fair.

A panel of judges will select the best entry submitted by an youth in each category for Fruit, Vegetable, Pickle, and Soft Spread categories. Entries must be preserved in Ball® or Ball® Collection Elite ® Jars sealed with Ball® Lids and Bands or Ball® Lids and Bands or Ball® Collection Elite® Lids and Bands. In addition, soft spread entries will be limited to recipes prepared using Ball® Pectin: Original, No Sugar Needed or Liquid. The best entry from each category will receive the following from Jarden Home Brands:
One (1) Five-Dollar ($5.00) Coupons for Ball® or Kerr® FreshPreservingTM Products and one (1) Coupon for Ball Pectin Products.
