KINGS GATE BOCCE LEAGUE 2015
Another successful year for the Kings Gate Winter Bocce league. Again this year, we had our
maximum of 28 teams, comprised of 4 people on each team, along with an extensive list of sub-
stitute players for a total involvement of over 120 people.
We played every Wednesday afternoon, starting in the 1st week of January and ended our sea-
son March 25th.
Although this is a social league, competition was excellent and the winning foursome was finally
determined on the last nailbiting day of league play.
Congratulations to our 2015 winning team, Herc and Anna Lenkersdorf, Pasquale Rocchio, and
Dee Roe.
To wrap up the season, we held our annual Bocce Awards Luncheon at Visani’s where the win-
ning team was presented with their awards and several lucky folks won some very special East-
er eggs. An excellent luncheon was enjoyed by all.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank David Deitrich who prepares the tournament
schedule every year, and Pauline Drury who managed the finances and arranged the luncheon.
I would also like to thank the volunteers who stepped up to share the management load for next
season. Like our golf leagues, lawn bowling leagues, and more recently horseshoes and shuf-
fleboard, activities such as these, need a steady supply of volunteers to organize, manage and
disseminate information in order to keep the bocce ball moving forward!
I have submitted a summary of our 2015 season to our Community Manager, along with re-
quests to have covered seating for the players at the south end of the bocce courts for next sea-
son, and hopefully additional covered seating for spectators since we seem to attract a large
crowd every week. As well, we hope to have the courts levelled over the summer months.
Thanks to everyone for an enjoyable and successful 2015 Bocce season. I am already looking
forward to 2016.
