Message from the President, Mr Michael
Kassis
Dear Members of the Oceania Karate Federation Family.
On behalf of the Oceania Karate Federation Executive Committee (OKFEC) a very warm welcome to
the 19th OKF championships hosted by Karate New Zealand.
I know it is an honour for Karate New Zealand to be hosting this prestigious event, I am sure the
organising committee will do its utmost to offer the best facilities and services in order to make the
most successful and memorable event
I hope in addition to the challenge of the competition you will find some time to explore the great
City of Auckland and the surrounding areas of New Zealand.
This year is an important time for all athletes to achieve the best results to qualify for the Youth
Olympic games 2018 and the 2020 summer Olympics Tokyo.
Finally, I take this opportunity to wish all athletes and coaches success at this important event. The
OKF EC is looking forward to seeing your wonderful talent on the tatami.
Yours in Karate Do
Michael Kassis
President OKF
Message from the Organising Committee
Dear Ladies & Gentlemen,
It is our pleasure to welcome you to our beautiful country of New Zealand for the 19th Oceania
Karate Championships. The tournament will take place in Auckland, our largest city holding roughly a
3rd of our population.
This tournament has always been a major event in the tournament calendar, but the implications for
Olympic qualification mean that every athlete will be desperate to take top spot this year. It is
difficult for many of our athletes in this part of the world to access the K1 Premier League and K1
Youth League tournaments, making the points available from the Oceania Championships even more
important.
The success of this tournament will owe much to the volunteers within Karate NZ from all around
the country. From the organising committee, to the officials, table staff, caterers, coaches and so
many more, thank you for your help and support.
Finally, we wish all the competitors the best of luck in their endeavours. This event is all about you,
and we will be doing our best to provide you the platform on which you can shine.
George Glausiuss
Chairperson
Organising Committee Oceania Championships 2018
