E pluribus unum: “out of many, one. ” Just as our country was formed from many diverse parts, so too is our school formed of many different people, each having his own unique style. From this kaleidoscope of personalities, a student body issues forth, a union that is unique in its own way.

Besides being whipped into mental condition, our chang-
■ ing bodies are put to the test constantly in our four years here. Among a plethora of sports, there is a place for everyone, short or tall, fat or thin, veteran or newcomer.
Sail■■ P
We come together as individuals and blend our d iverse p e rsonalities into a solid community. H owever, in the finale we stand alone to make our own d ecision s.
13
Anyone who has truly experienced the Prep rea lizes that it is more than a group of buildings, or even a group of identical individuals, rather the strength of the school lies in its d iversity . Whether it be the confused Freshm an hurrying through the halls to his next c la s s , or the arrogant upperclassm an, obstinately sitting in the cafeteria, daring the bell to beat him to c la s s , we find the differences among those who attend the Prep. No community can be considered a true one without these disparities of personalities as one finds at St. P eter's.
14
This world of ours holds two kinds of men, the imaginative and the practical. Seldom does one man defy such categorization, but F r . James F isch er does: his im aginatively p ractical ways have made him one of the most important administrators ever at our school. Many faculty and staff members insist that, if it w eren't for F r . F isch e r, Prep would be running an enormous deficit; it is his pragm atism , his b r illian ce, his all-im portant vision that fulfilled a desperate need in our school for the last six y e a rs . As F r . F isch er leaves his post as President of St. P eter's , we breathe an earnest "Thank you!" for all that he has done, and we wish him successin the future.
16
To an ou tsid er, the Prep m ay seem like just another school, maybe a school better known or respected than m o st, but nothing m ore than th at. Those of us who attend Prep, how ever, think d ifferen tly .
The Prep is part of our l iv e s , not because we go there ev ery day or because we re ce iv e a d iplom a from the school, but fo r a m ore personal and seem ingly m ore abstract reason: the Prep becom es one with the individual. It is alm ost as if the Prep is personified. We w ork for the Prep; we a re rew arded by the Prep; we know the Prep. It is this personal touch which m akes our school d ifferen t.
Som etim es it seem s as i f the entire student body is one en tity . While walking through the crowded c o r r id o r s , we feel as if ev ery student is strivin g toward the sam e goal. In a w ay, e v eryone knows each other, for we ra re ly see a face that we have not seen b efo re. Few people can hide in so sm all and close-kn it an environment; to be ignorant of another student would be like not knowing a m em ber of our own fam ily .
We cannot sa y , how ever, that the Prep is just one body , that ev ery student can re la te to every other student. If this w ere tru e , the school would be a p erfectly homogeneous conglom eration of people who know each other's ways as we know our own. This is a human im possib ility , for just as the depth of a person is infinite so is the depth of the school. T h e re fo re , we can never say that we understand even a fraction of the student body .
It is this boundless quality which makes the Prep g r e a t . T here is no lim it to what we can learn at the P rep . The exp erien ces, both good qnd bad, are incalculable. E very second is an event shaping our l iv e s . The Prep is not just a school but a d irecto r, a teach er, a guide, a frien d . It i s , perhaps, the greatest factor in the way we mature as m en.

IN MEMOR Y OF NICHOLAS KAPAKOS
The just m an, even though he dies young, shall be at r e s t . F or an honorable old age com es not with the passing of tim e, nor can it be m easured in term s of y e a r s . R ather, understanding is the white haired crown for m en, and an unsullied l ife , the attainment of old a g e . He who p leased God was loved. Having becom e p erfect in a short tim e, he reached the fullness of a long ca re e r; for his soul was p leasing to the L o rd .

C reating a yearbook is not an easy ta s k . It asks for our tim e when we are busy, req uires attention when we are la zy , and tests our patience when it is w e aring thin. Working on a yearbook demands im aginations and yet at other tim es it seem s endlessly rote. O rganization, cooperation, and diligence are essen tia l i f we are to m eet deadlines and produce a quality book. T h ere inevitably com e those tim es which r e quire sponstaneous decisions — a lost p icture, m issing identifications, an overlooked activ ity . A yearbook must be planned yet something w ill always be off schedule. A yearbook requires constant work whether on the day of the deadline or three weeks befo re .
T h is book would have been an im possible task if it had hot been for som e people not mentioned in the preceding p a g es. We would like to thank everyone who sponsored this book and allowed us to have a co lor section; F r . Coughlin for his id ea s, his patience, and his typing; M rs. A rgyelan for help anytime we needed something copied, run off, or mailed; F r . Roslovich for opening the door; F r . A zzarto for late night sodas; Andy M urro for his willingness to e x plain any problem that we may have had; Photography by Lou for senior portraits and color p rin ts, and anyone else who has lightened our load in producing this yearbook.
