Why Scotlands order Rail
success matter
BC also has rail lines and corridors with great potential
The BC Hydro owned, interurban corridor from Surrey through to Cserves a population of over 800,000
Previous cost estimates to restore service on the interurban corridochallenged by Scotlands Border Rail experience
TransLinks Oct 2006 DRL reports conclusions on the viability of secinterurban line looks to be highly suspect.

Why Scotlands order Rail success matters to
The Scottish business case for passenger service includes regiointerconnectivity and tourism (this is relevant for the Fraser Vacorridor)
Border Rail is intended to accelerate economic activity in the
Midlothian and Borders regions of Scotland. Project affordability issue is key to the Border Rail project. A re
regular service using a lower cost solution but incorporating dfeatures that allow for future electrification of the system

Observations
Automated light metro systems are prohibitivelyexpensive and necessitate limited regional trans
coverage.
$300M tunnelled and $130M/km elevated trans
systems are not affordable on a regional basis.
We can learn from other regions that maximize ttransit coverage through integrating available
infrastructure into the overall transit system.(We preach reuse in waste management why not infrastructure ?
