•*/ A review of the data regarding the contaminants associated« with this facility revealed the reported presence of 21 ug/1 ofc vinyl chloride in the Lombardo homevell. This calculates to^ represent an incremental cancer risk of about 1.4E-03 to thea* consumers of this water. When available, DWELs are used as"* criteria to determine whether a removal action should be elicited
. but there is none for vinyl chloride. In such cases contamin '-J levels that exceed l.OE-04 will provoke a removal action as is
case with the Lombardo homewell.*5 ••«• It is noted, however, that the data provided is over* years old. We are not certain as to whether this homewell is
in use nor can we trust this ~ita. To further complicatematter there is a set of analytical data that was carriedJanuary of 1987 that apparently failed to find any vinly c SLin the Lombardo homewell. It is recommended that the /status of this homewell be investigated and if found toin use without any steps to remediate the reported contarthe OSC should be be instructed to have it resampled and-for volatiles by a local laboratory on the same day that *was taken. Because of its high volatility vinyl chlor <results are always suspect and monitoring well resul &evidence of general contamination in the area by this i.If this analysis reveals the presence of levels of vinyx . iethat exceed a l.OE-04 risk level, a removal action should becarried out to terminate this exposure.
Other data provided thus far do not give evidence of any. imminent hazard to anyone, whether they are persons living nearthis facility, or trespassers who actually work or play within itsboundaries. The data reviewed, in coming to thisincludes that concerning the contaminants in theand the leachates. It is understood that more information may beforthcoming.
