there. After you fill out your form, we will send the registration key to the email you provide.
During the trial the registration window pops up whenever you first enter the preview window.
It’s also accessible through the “Help” menu on the toolbar. Enter your email and the registration
key you received to validate your purchase and begin using ecoPrint2 Pro indefinitely.
6
(2.4) Running ecoPrint2 Pro
1. Be sure to enter the print dialogue first unless you have ecoPrint2 Pro set as your default
printer, otherwise print the document as you normally would.
2. In the print window, select ecoPrint 2 as the printer. This can usually be found in the
drop-down menu. Click “OK” to proceed.
3. In a few moments, the window ‘Economy printing – ecoPrint2 Pro Ink & Paper Saver’ will
open and you can begin to use ecoPrint2 Pro.
7
(3) Using ecoPrint2 Pro
(3.1) Printing from the Preview Window
1. Access the print menu found under “File” in the menu toolbar.
2. Select the printer you want to use. Remember to choose the actual printer you want to
use this time, DO NOT choose ecoPrint2 again.
3. Click “OK” and your document will print.
8
4. Note: If you have multiple printers you will need to specify which printer you want to use
every time you want to use a different one. This can be done by accessing the “Print
Setup” menu.
9
(3.2) Adjust your Ink & Toner Saving Options
1. The Ink/Toner Saving Options can be found under the “File” options in the menu bar.
2. When you first enter the Ink/Toner Saving Options panel, make sure the box labeled
“Enable Ink/Toner Saving’ is checked, this will unlock the slider bar below.
10
3. Sliding the bar to the left will decrease the percentage of ink saved, while sliding to the
right will increase it. The total percentage saved is shown in the box labeled “Ink/Toner
saving ratio”. You can also manually edit the percentage saved by typing numbers into
this box.
4. When you’re happy with the saving ratio, click the menu labeled “Type of Printer” and
choose which kind of printer you plan on using ecoPrint2 with.
This program uses different ink saving algorithms for each printer type. For maximum
quality and ink saving, make sure the correct type of printer is selected. If you set the
ink/toner saving ratio too high, the program may automatically adjust colours which will
result in poor print-out quality. If this happens set the ratio lower to correct the issue. For
laser/multifunctional printers the default setting is “Laser Quality 1”. If the printing results
are not as expected try the other laser quality settings.
11
5. Once you are finished adjusting these parameters click the “apply” button located at the
bottom of the panel. This will save your settings so you may use them immediately.
The toolbar contains shortcuts to the main Ink/Toner Saving Options panel, as well as
0%, 25% and 50% ink reduction settings for the current document.
12
(3.3) Using the Savings Calculator
With ecoPrint2 Pro Ink and Paper, you can track approximately how much money you are
saving by reducing your paper and ink usage.
If your printer uses a combined black/colour ink cartridge:
1. In the “Set Price” Column, enter the cost of your ink/toner cartridge.
2. Estimate how much of the ink cartridge you will use in a month and enter this in the
“Cartridge Used/Month” box in the “Set Price” column.
3. Click “Apply” to calculate how much you will save.
If your printer uses separate cartridges for black and colour inks:
1. In the “Black” column, enter the cost of your black ink cartridge only.
2. Estimate how much of the ink cartridge you use in a month and enter this in the
“Cartridge Used/Month” box in the “Black” column.
3. Enter the cost of your color ink cartridge in the “Color” column.
4. Add the estimated usage amount in the “Cartridge Used/Month” box in the “Colour”
column.
5. Click “Apply” to calculate your savings.
Each time you print with ecoPrint2 Pro, your cost savings are calculated based on the price and
usage information you entered. Automatically calculated savings include:
• Yearly ink/toner savings
• Monthly dollar amounts saved
• Yearly dollar amounts saved
13
(3.4) Paper Statistics
Paper statistics is another calculator which gives you the approximate cost of paper saved
and CO2 reduced by using this software. You can either check the environmental effects of
your previous usage of the software or estimate the amount of money you saved.
The data used in this calculator is from the Japan Paper Association and the Tokyo Kurashi
no Techou.
To calculate the amount of paper and trees saved, as well as CO2 reduced during the past
months, enter the brackets of months you would like to include in your calculations (May to
August, for example). The default environmental stats are for A4 size sheets of paper, but if
you have specific statistics involving the CO2 reduction per sheet or the tree saved per
sheet, you can enter your own stats.
14
This will tell you how many pages of document have been printed, how much paper you
have saved, how many grams of CO2 you have reduced and how many trees you have
saved by using ecoPrint 2 Pro. Keep watching the rectangular box; after extended use,
something may grow there!
Note: “Exclude Printers…” lets you remove specific printers from the statistics. This can be
useful if you have virtual printers that only print to files.
To predict how much money you have saved:
1. Enter the sum you have used on printing into “Total Printing Cost”, ink and paper
cost included.
2. Enter the number of sheets you have used into “Total sheets used” and the cost of
each sheet into “Paper cost/sheet”.
3. Enter the ink/toner saving ratio you have been using into “Average Ink/Toner saving
ratio.”
15
This will give you the total printing cost saved and percentage of cost saved.
The results can be saved to a CSV file via “Export” and can be viewed in a spreadsheet
application such as Excel. The data acquired using this method is encrypted and cannot be
falsified.
16
(3.5) Printing Multiple Pages on One Page
ecoPrint 2 Pro lets you print multiple pages of your document on a single piece of paper. This is
useful for printing documents with large text and images, such as presentation slides.
Open the “View” menu in the menu bar. The lower part of the menu holds options for how many
pages you want to print on a single page. Choose your preferred number of pages from this list.
Tip 1: The multiple page options can also be accessed by either right-clicking the document, or
using this bar:
Tip 2: You can set the default number of pages printed on one sheet using the “n-UP on startup”
menu in the Option settings.
17
(3.6) Combining Multiple Documents
ecoPrint2 Pro lets you add pages from multiple documents into the same print project. This is
particularly useful if you want to print pages from different documents onto a single page.
1. Start a printing job in ecoPrint2using the “ecoPrint 2” driver.
2. Open the document you want to add to the print project and print it to “ecoPrint2” as if
you were starting a new print project.
18
3. This will automatically add the document or photo to your current print project
4. You can also delete pages by right-clicking a page and selecting “Delete This Page”
from the drop-down menu.
5. Select a page you want to delete then click the “Delete this Page” icon or select “Delete
this Page” from the “Edit” menu. You can also right click on the page you wish to delete
and erase it from there. Holding the ctrl key will allow you to select multiple pages with
the mouse.
19
(3.7) Change the Page Order
There are a few ways to change the page order. First, you can click and drag a page to a new
destination. Second, you can click on a page and select either “Move to Page” from the “Edit”
menu or click on “Move Selected Page To” and specify a page number.
1. Click on a page you want to move in the preview window.
2. Drag it to the new destination, or select a move page command from the “Edit” menu.
Here we select “Move to First Page”.
20
3. Once you have selected a command, the page moves to the new location.
4. If you select the “Move Selected Page To” option you will have a dialog to select the
destination page. Select the page number and click “OK”.
You can change the order of the pages in your document from the Preview window. This
also applies to multiple pages printed on a single page of the print project.
21
1. First, select the page that you want to move by clicking on it. This will create a blue
outline around the page.
2. The page order options are in the “Edit” menu on the menu bar, as shown here. Choose
where you want to move your selected page.
22
3. In this case, we have to move the selected page to the very first page.
4. If you have a specific placement in mind for the page you want to move, use the “Move
Selected Page to…” option and pick which page you want to move to from the drop
down menu in this panel.
23
(3.8) Add Custom Paper Sizes
You can add custom paper sizes using our standalone add-on, which can be found under the
ecoPrint 2 folder in the start menu.
By adjusting the width and height of the paper, as well as the margins, you can add your own
paper sizes using the “add size” button in this application, to be used via the drop-down menu in
Paper Size select of the Printer Setup.
24
(3.9) Sending alternate paper sizes
To send alternate paper sizes to the ecoPrint 2 Pro viewing window make sure that the printer
selected in the program you’re using is “ecoPrint 2”.
Under preferences -> Advanced… you’ll find this window:
Adjusting the Paper Size in this drop-down menu will change the size of the printing output that
is sent to the preview window.
25
(3.10) Printing on Alternate Paper Sizes
If you want to print on alternate paper sizes, you will need to specify this in the Print Setup. The
same goes for orientating the paper in portrait or landscape. The print setup behaves nearly
identically to the ones in other printing-enabled programs.
For example, to adjust the paper size to legal, go to “Print Setup” in the File menu and adjust
the paper size to “Legal”.
This will apply to the paper size to the whole print project, and you are ready to print on legal-
size paper.
26
(3.11) Page Numbering and Page Borders
ecoPrint2 Pro lets you put embellishments on your document to make them easier to read. This
includes page numbering and borders between multiple pages. Both menus can be found under
the Options Settings, which pops up automatically upon startup. If you closed the Option
Settings, you can bring them back by clicking “Show/Hide Options” in the “View” menu in the
menu bar.
Page Numbers
Page numbering can be applied to the corners or the top and bottom center of the pages. This
is especially useful for arranging pages from multiple documents.
Page Borders
The “Separator” option creates divider lines between multiple pages on the same printed page,
while “Frame” also adds a border around the whole printed page.
27
(3.12) Include Unprintable Margins
By default, some applications such as Internet Explorer print files without the required margins,
making these areas unprintable. In case of Internet Explorer, this can sometimes cut off the
automated page numbering as well as headers and footers. If you’d like to make sure that these
elements get printed, you can choose the option “Shrink to Printable Area”.
The “Shrink to Printable Area” option is under the “Edit” menu, and can also be accessed by
right-click the page you wish to change.
This will ensure that the edges of the page do not clip the margin text.
Note: When printing most files (Such as from Word or Excel) it’s recommended that this option
be left off otherwise your margins may be larger than intended.
28
(3.13) Accessing the Comment Editor
ecoPrint 2 Pro lets you put comments on your document, such as highlighting notes or via an
integrated drawing program. The comment editor lets you write text notes, import images and
draw lines, boxes and circles.
1. The Add Comment option can be found under the “Edit” menu or the right-click menu, as
we have shown here.
2. This will open an editor window. From here, you can add comments. For a guide on to
use these tools refer to topic 3.14: Using the Comment Editor Tools.
29
3. When you are finished adding comments, close the Editor window and click “Yes” when
prompted to save the results.
30

This Properties menu allows you to change the look of your comment. Each Properties tab is
different for each type of drawing tool, so be sure to look at all of them.
32
(3.15) Rotating Page Content
As is often the case with print projects involving multiple files types, sometimes you may need to
rotate the contents of a single page.
The rotation options can be found under the “Edit” menu or the right-click menu, as we have
shown here. ecoPrint 2 Pro allows you to rotate either 90 degrees or 180 degrees in any
direction.
33
(3.16) Adjusting Page Margins
The margins can be adjusted via the “Page Setup” window found under the “File” menu on the
menu bar.
The margin settings on this window allow you to change the margins of each edge and give you
the choice of applying the settings to one or all of the pages. To apply your settings, click “OK”
once you are done.
34
(3.17) Insert Blank Pages
The Insert Blank Pages options can be found under the “Edit” menu or the right-click menu, as
shown here. You can choose to insert a blank page before or after the selected page.
This will result in a page of white space being placed in your document.
35
(3.18) Adding Watermarks
ecoPrint 2 Pro offers a variety of preset watermarks you can apply to your documents, as well
as the option to customize your own. The Watermark menu and Options panel can be found
under the Option Settings, which pops up automatically upon startup. If you closed the Option
Settings, you can bring them back by clicking “Show/Hide Options” in the “view” menu in the
menu bar.
1. To use one of the preset watermarks, choose the desired watermark from the drop-down
menu.
2. If you need to change a preset watermark or design your own, click on the “…” icon next
to the Watermark drop-down menu, this will take you to the main “watermark Options”
panel.
3. The Watermark Options give you increased control over your watermarks, allowing you
to change the text, font, size, colour, position and angle of the preset watermarks. It also
36
allows you to create your own preset watermarks.
37
(3.19) Save as Image File
After you are finished creating a print project, ecoPrint 2 Pro also allows you to save each page
as an image for later use. Projects can be saved in the following formats: BMP, TIF, DCX, EMF,
GIF, JPG, MNG, PCD, PCX, PIC, PSD, PNG, or TGA format.
