The Sinfulness of Sin!
2
“But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding
sinful.” (Romans 7:13)
3
“Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, That take counsel, but not of me; And
that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, That they may add sin to sin.”
(Isaiah 30:1)

Rain coat
goggles or glasses
funnel or test tube
diet soda (warm)
Mentos®
Items needed
5
Put on the rain coat and glasses. Place the soda on a table OUTSIDE away from
important things! Open the bottle of soda and place on the table. Place 5 or 6 Mentos® in the test tube or the funnel and put a piece of
paper under the opening so the Mentos® will not drop out. Place the funnel or now inverted test tube over the opening of the Mentos® with the paper still in place. Now quickly pull away
the paper so the Mentos® can quickly drop into the soda. Now just as quickly, move back
and watch the action!
6
There will be an eruption because of nucleation. Nucleation is a physical reaction which occurs when components in a solution start to precipitate out, forming nuclei which
attract more precipitate.
7
The Mentos® look smooth but actually have thousands of small bumps upon them that
allow nucleation to begin quickly and so the carbon dioxide in the soda quickly is released.
8
We chose diet soda because it does not have sticky sugar in it in case of the the soda
erupts on us. Also it has artificial sweeteners that act to lower the surface tension and
allow the nucleation to occur.
9
So the diet soda has the artificial sweeteners which are not good for our systems as well as
caffeine. Of course regular soda would not have artificial sweetener, it would be loaded
with high-fructose corn syrup, a very unhealthy type of sugar.
10
The main ingredients in the Mentos® are: sugar
glucose syruphydrogenated coconut oil
11
Neither the soda nor the candies are good for us, but together they are very
bad!
12
Many times when we mix bad things together we do not simply get the results of 1+1 =2
Instead the two bad things, like drugs and alcohol, will have a heightened effect with each other so the net result is much worse
than the total of each one separately.
13
In our spiritual lives, when we add sin to sin we have troubles that are far more than
simply the total of the two evils. As God told Hosea, “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind” (Hosea 8:7).
14
“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth.” (Ecclesiastes 12:1)
