The module will #e delivered through lectures and seminars. ectures will use PowerPoint
presentations of theoretical concepts and engaging closely with industry #ased eamples to
drive home the theoretical concepts. 3tudents are epected to engage in independent
research of practical concepts to enhance the understanding of theory delivered in lectures.
3tudents are reuired to complete all set seminar uestions #efore coming to the
lecture4seminar. 5nswers are to #e handwritten unless discussed with the module leader.
3tudents who have not completed the seminar answers will not #e allowed to attend the
seminars.

3ince the module was last delivered various changes have #een made to the delivery
material as well as the style and emphasis of delivery. This has led to the introduction of
more formal seminars and the reuirement to complete uestions in advance.
ASSESSMET STRATEY
The module will utilise two eually7weighted pieces of assessed work. Both must be
attempted. 5ssessments must #e su#mitted in hard copy to a #o in 890)+ form and
su#mitted via Turnitin.

The niversity reuires students to adhere to su#mission deadlines for any form of
assessment. 5 penalty will #e applied in relation to unauthorised late su#mission of work.
5uthorisation of the late su#mission of work reuires written permission. There is an
etension form that needs to #e completed< availa#le from the 3tudent ffice. This form
needs to #e signed #y the module tutor and the Division eader with responsi#ility for the
module Gif the Division leader is not availa#le then the form can #e signed #y the
appropriate 5ssociate DirectorH. %t is yourresponsi#ility to get the form signed which
will give you permission for one etension period of #etween 1 and ' working days where
evidence of circumstances has #een accepted and where su#mission within this timescale
would #e reasona#le taking into account those circumstances.

The niversity operates a universal penalty scale for unauthorised late su#mission of any
form of assessed work. 3tudents who su#mit work within ' working days after the
pu#lished su#mission date without an authorised extension will o#tain a maximum
mark of 50%for that element of assessment.
5ll work su#mitted later than 5 working daysafter the pu#lished su#mission date will #eawarded a mark of 0%.
REASSESSMET
The decision to offer reassessment lies with the Course43chool 5ssessment &oard taking
account of the recommendations from 6odule &oards and the studentIs overall profile.
For modules which are assessed at the end of the first semester< the decision to offer
reassessment lies with the 6odule &oard.
5 module may only #e reassessed once following initial failure.
The #est mark which may #e awarded for a module following reassessment is '0;. %f
#oth the original mark and the reassessment are at J'0; then the #etter of the two marks
will #e used in any su#seuent averaging calculation.
Where a reassessed module is failed the Course43chool 5ssessment &oard will use
academic Kudgement to determine whether that module may #e condoned or retaken counts as a second attempt.

3tudent attendance at timeta#led learning activities of Courses and 6odules is reuired.
!otification of illness or eceptional reuests for leave of a#sence must #e made to the
Course eader. nauthorised a#sence is not accepta#le and may attract academic

the Conduct of 3tudents>.
Students who do not respond to communications concerning continuousunauthorised absence may be deemed to have withdrawn from the course . The date
of withdrawal will #e recorded as the last day of attendance. %ndividual modules may
incorporate a specific attendance reuirement as part of the assessment criteria for
successful completion of a module.

The niversity operates a universal scheme for the su#mission of etenuating
circumstances. %f you feel that you have etenuating circumstances then you need to
o#tain a special envelope marked L-tenuating CircumstancesL from the 3tudent ffice.
This contains a form which asks for details of the course< the year of study< the name of
the student< the name of the course leader and identifies the modules affected. =Thisincludes modules internal and eternal to the 3chool>.
:ou must attach relevant documentary evidence such as medical certificates. The
completed form and envelope are then returned to the 3tudent ffice.

The niversity regards any use of unfair means in an attempt to enhance performance or
