How to Apply for a TSIA STAR Award | Step-by-Step Instructions

STEP 1

• Go to the TSIA 2015 Star Award web page www.tsia.com/star.

• Review the current list of 2015 categories and the award criteria for each. If you need assistance determining the best category(s) for your organization, please contact TSIA. We are here to help!

• Click on the nomination button, follow the prompts (remembering your password for future access).

• Complete the nomination form, save and finalize.

• TSIA will send you a “Next Steps” email with detailed instructions, deadlines, and a link to the application template for your chosen category.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2015 TSIA STAR Award. The following step-by-step instructions will help you navigate through the nomination and application process.

STEP 2

• Review the STAR Award PowerPoint application/presentation template:

> Company and Admin Info section—this portion of the deck contains the application instructions. It also requires you to provide a company logo and trophy shipping address should you be a finalist in the category.

> Presentation section—this contains the criteria for the category. This is where you will build your case for why you should win the category.

• Gather all of the facts for your STAR Award application.

• Assemble your story, completing the PowerPoint application/presentation slide deck.

• Carefully perform an internal review of your STAR Award presentation for completeness, accuracy, and visual appeal. Spelling, grammar, and ease of readability count!

• TSIA will send you a Judge Exclusion Form. This form allows you to request exclusion of a limited number of judges. We take exclusion requests seriously. Please return this form promptly.

STEP 3 • Attend the two NEW STAR Award Instructional Webinars scheduled for April and June.

These webinars are hosted by TSIA Research VPs and will help new and seasoned applicants with the STAR Award application process. In the first, STAR Award applicants will learn what to consider when selecting category(s), assembling a team, and preparing their applications. In the second, applicants will hear from a repeated STAR Award winner as well as senior TSIA Researchers about what it takes to prepare an excellent STAR Award submission. Tips and tricks will be shared, there will be time for Q&A from attendees, and the sessions will be recorded for you to share with your STAR Award application teams. Don’t miss these very helpful webinars!

• Make any final updates to your STAR Award application(s).

• Submit your final STAR Award application on or before the final due date by logging on and following the prompts on the STAR Award platform (a reminder email and link will be sent one week prior to final submission due date).

Please note: TSIA will no longer be conducting Preliminary Reviews of STAR Award applications.

STEP 4

• Approximately six weeks before the 2015 TSW Service Transformations conference, look for a notification from TSIA on whether you are a finalist or non-finalist in your category(s).

• Attend the 2015 TSW Service Transformations | Awards Gala Celebration, where all STAR Award finalists will be announced and the winners will be revealed.

• Finalists and winners will receive trophies. Winners will be called up to the stage to receive their trophies during the Awards ceremony. Finalists may pick up their trophies after the ceremony.

• Finalists and winners will have an opportunity for photographs at the Awards ceremony.

• Following the 2015 TSW Service Transformations conference, all STAR Award nominees will receive a feedback report for each of their submissions. This report will contain all of the comments from the judges, along with graphical scoring results.

TIPS FOR COMPLETING A STAR AWARD APPLICATION:

• Choose a category for which you are eligible and have a compelling business case.

• Plan ahead.

• Involve cross-functional teams.

• Answer the criteria – stay on topic.

• Make the application “tell a story” about why you are entering this category and why you should win.

• Explain acronyms.

• Be succinct.

• Support your story/case with data.

• Ensure that any numbers and graphs are clearly explained.

• Make the presentation concise and professional – as if you were telling it to your senior executives.

• Review grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

• Do not crowd too much information onto one slide. Keep the message focused.

• Show the impact on the entire organization and company.

• Show a positive business impact.

STAR Award winners and nominees are:

1. Recognized at the 2015 TSW Service Transformations | Awards Gala Celebration.

2. Given trophies and provided an opportunity for photographs.

3. Announced in a TSIA press release.

4. Listed on our website in the STAR Award section.

5. Featured in a TSIA newsletter.

6. Provided a feedback report for each of their submissions. Each report includes judges’ comments and graphical scoring results.
