An nGeneYes Success Story The Client: The Diagnostic Imaging Group of one of the top 10 largest industrial corporations in the U.S. The Problem: This group manufactures and repairs sophisticated radiology-imaging equipment for use in hospitals and clinics. Because the equipment affects life-saving procedures, federal regulations require that a detailed repair history for each piece of equipment must be maintained for seven years. The company was handling this process with a manual, paper-based system. This required an enormous volume of paper flow and labor time – each time a piece of equipment came in for repair employees had to take time to locate its historical file folder. A further challenge was that the repair floor utilized an array of customized computers or “black boxes,” each programmed to diagnose a specific repair problem. The “black boxes” functioned independently of each other, which made pinpointing problems in complex equipment difficult. Often, repair technicians had to rely on trial and error and guesswork. The nGeneYes Solution: We designed and implemented a complete automated tracking system, including a customized application which uses bar codes as “license plates” to monitor repairs and other activities for each individual product. In addition, we developed software that enabled the multiple “black box” computers on the repair floor to interface, allowing employees to diagnose problems with the complex imaging equipment faster and more accurately. The Problem: The client was generating approximately 20,000 documents, including numerous large paper reports, every month. Pre-contract information such as purchases, sales and commissions were entered into ledger books and manually calculated. Secondary documents such as memos, faxes and purchase orders were stored manually in boxes. When these documents were needed, it could take up to three days to locate them. The nGeneYes Solution: To increase the efficiency in handling this enormous volume of data, we developed and implemented a customized order-tracking system incorporating state-of-the-art imaging and document management technology. Our application enabled employees to scan peripheral files, faxes – even fabric samples – and attach these to their related contract information files. We also helped to create an integrated network environment to link the previously non-automated order tracking operations with accounting systems. According to a company manager, our solution increased the division’s efficiency by 20 percent on a daily basis. INC. An nGeneYes Success Story The Client: A unique themed restaurant chain with locations in Manhattan, Orlando, Florida, and Las Vegas – and planned locations around the world. The Problem: The client was seeking to network its locations so that corporate management could keep close tabs on monetary transactions on a global basis. The nGeneYes Solution: We developed a customized business management system (CBMS) that integrates with the point-of-sale systems at each current and planned restaurant. This advanced system captures all data into one central location where it is automatically transported to the restaurant’s general ledger. It also unites the POS system with inventory and accounting, enabling the company to ensure sales have been recorded, funds are in the right accounts, and approved marketing and promotions are taking place. The new system has allowed the client to stay ahead of the competition, reduce internal costs, and improve reporting and decision making. Future plans include videoconferencing, which will reduce travel expenses and increase the pace of communication as the chain expands worldwide. INC. An nGeneYes Success Story The Client: The company behind barcode and scanner systems used in supermarkets and other check-out lines around the world. The Problem: To test products for quality defects, the company had been using dedicated equipment which had to be custom-designed for each task. The function of each piece of test equipment designed was minimal, as was the amount of information it could collect. The nGeneYes Solution: We designed and implemented a multi-function, multi-tasking Automated Interface Testing System (AITS) that is able to examine numerous products at once for possible defects. The new system can conduct 16 separate tests at one time, with greater accuracy than the previous equipment. In addition, the system can test the decoding accuracy of scanners without moving the products, which greatly reduces labor costs. For the client, AITS has resulted in major cost reductions and better testing results – enabling the company to be faster to market with products that have little or no flaws. The Problem: The client was experiencing continual problems with its IT infrastructure, which supports 200 computers in its 20,000-square-foot facility. The server failed repeatedly, causing frequent downtime and “tremendous frustration,” according to President Michael Fliegelman. The company’s fax gateway, in place for two years, had never operated correctly. Ongoing IT maintenance costs to band-aid the failing systems were high. The nGeneYes Solution: When nGeneYes was brought in, we were able to diagnose the problem with the fax gateway (the software had never been configured correctly) in just 20 minutes. To stabilize the clients’ systems, we recommended that their single server be replaced with four smaller servers. This greatly reduced downtime, improved maintenance – because one server could be worked on without disabling the entire system – and reduced the costs for upgrades. Over three years, with a stabilized network environment, the client experienced a 55% savings in IT expenditures. nGeneYes “did a great job for us,” Mr. Fliegelman said. “They have a real knack for solving problems. Copies had to be shipped back to New Jersey to be filed, as well as to the appropriate campus location in the Carib- bean. When students brought additional last-minute documents to their interviews, their applications needed to be updated and the whole process had to happen again. Added up, it typically took five days for each applicant’s paperwork to reach all necessary locations. The nGeneYes Solution: We developed and implemented a document management system that entirely eliminated costly and time-consuming shipping between locations. Now, student application documents are scanned on a copy machine, along with a printed cover page. These scanned documents are posted to a secure Internet site, where they are available to all locations in 30 seconds. This saved the client $200,000 to $250,000 in annual shipping costs. It also enabled the school to schedule more student interviews, which has increased enrollment and revenues to the extent that it is expanding both of its campuses. The Client: The Diagnostic Imaging Group of one of the top 10 largest industrial corporations

in the U.S.

The Problem: This group manufactures and repairs sophisticated radiology-imaging equipment

for use in hospitals and clinics. Because the equipment affects life-saving procedures, federal

regulations require that a detailed repair history for each piece of equipment must be maintained

for seven years. The company was handling this process with a manual, paper-based system.

This required an enormous volume of paper flow and labor time – each time a piece of equipment

came in for repair employees had to take time to locate its historical file folder.

A further challenge was that the repair floor utilized an array of customized computers or “black

boxes,” each programmed to diagnose a specific repair problem. The “black boxes” functioned

independently of each other, which made pinpointing problems in complex equipment difficult.

Often, repair technicians had to rely on trial and error and guesswork.

The nGeneYes Solution:

We designed and implemented a complete automated tracking system, including a customized

application which uses bar codes as “license plates” to monitor repairs and other activities for

each individual product. In addition, we developed software that enabled the multiple “black box”

computers on the repair floor to interface, allowing employees to diagnose problems with the

IDEAL CLIENTS:Companies that are having difficulty making their technology work effectively. They may be experiencing recurring problems with software or other business management systems and are looking for a fresh approach.

We then provide a detailed analysis and recommendations for moving forward, including a predetermined total cost estimate – not an open-ended hourly rate.

REFERRAL TRIGGERS:Mention nGeneYes when you hear a business person say: • I am looking to infuse new technology into my

current application. • I have an old application I would like to replace. • I am frustrated because I cannot find the

software I am looking for off the shelf. • I need to have my systems accessible

from my website.
