Fluted Barrels

At E. R. Shaw Custom Barrels we offer two types of rifle barrel fluting for you to choose from - Traditional Straight Fluting and Shaw’s Patented (U.S. Patents DES. 426,611 & USG. 324,780B1) Helical Fluting.

The unique appearance of our Helical Fluting provides the discriminatingshooter with a barrel that not only looks great but is up to thirty percent morerigid than a similar barrel with Straight Fluting. Helical fluting provides additionalsurface area for improved cooling, improved barrel harmonics, and helps tocounter act rotational torque, giving the shooter greater shot consistency.

Barrel Installation

Let our Gunsmithing Department fit an E. R. Shaw barrel to your bolt action. We can handle just about any turnbolt - Mausers (military, commercial andSiamese); Springfields, Enfields (P-14 and P17 only); all Remington 700 series,Winchester Model 70, Savage 110 series, Weatherby Mark V and Vanguard,Ruger 77, etc. Unfortunately, we do not install .22 rimfire, semi-autos, singleshots, or levers. The only pistol that we rebarrel is the Remington XP-100.

Regrettably, we cannot alter commercial actions such as Remington,Winchester, Ruger, Savage etc. from Standard to Magnum calibers.

within the past five years, and we are on the cusp of breakingground on an entirely new manufacturing facility. We

Small Arms Manufacturing designedand patented helical fluting. We also hold patents

on a number of proprietary tooling and machining processes.We can precision-drill, ream and rifle to meet all SAAMI specifications.

Our Product Offerings—Simplified:Any Caliber. Any Length. Any Finish.

That about covers it. Small Arms Manufacturing can supply any barrel, to any degree of finish—from simple blanks to finishedbarrels—drilled, reamed, rifled and chambered. We utilize only gun-barrel-certified 4140 chrome moly and 416R stainlesssteel. We cover every caliber from .17 to 12-gauge, up to alength of 41 inches. We currently produce more than 2,700configurations, including rimfire, centerfire, shotgun andblack powder—all button-rifled.

Our production capabilities enable us tomanufacture product in any quantity required. We can provide barrels precut to your finishedspecs, or in lengths you can cut into multiples.We produce everything from rifled blanks tofully-finished, threaded and chamberedbarrels. In short, submit a drawing andwe’ll produce it for you.
