CONSTRUCT ION
Sew all rights sides together with ¼"seam allowance.
DIAGRAM 1•One (1) 3 1/2" square from Fabric A
•Two (2) 2" x 3 1/2" strip from Fabric B
•Two (2) 2" x 6 1/2" strip from Fabric B
•Four (4) 2" squares from Fabric B
•One (1) 4 3/4" squares from Fabric B and F
•Four (4) 2" x 3 1/2" strip from Fabric C and E
•Two (2) 4 3/4" squares from Fabric D and E
•Twelve (12) 2" squares from Fabric E
•Eight (8) 2" squares from Fabric F
•On eight (8) 2" squares from Fabric E and F, draw a diagonal from corner to corner with a fabric marking pen. Set these pieces aside.
Square in a Square Unit
•Take four 2" squares from Fabric E and place on each corner of a 3 1/2" square from Fabric A. Sew on the line you drew .
•Trim your excess fabric to 1/4". Repeat this same process with your other two corners, to reveal your square within a square block.
•Now sew a 2" x 3 1/2" strip to each side of your unit and sew a 2" x 6 1/2" strip to the bottom and top of your piece.

•Place four 2" squares on each corner of your piece and sew on each line you drew, trim your seam allowance to 1/4" and press corners out.
•Now it’s time to make four flying geese using the corner square method.
•Take four (4) 2" x 3 1/2" strips and place a 2" square from Fabric F to each end of your strip with the diagonal line facing in. Sew on the line you drew and trim your allowance to 1/4"
•Repeat this same process to the other side of your strip to complete your flying geese.

•To create the HST's in this block we are going to use the Eight at a Time Method.
•To create eight half square triangles with Fabric B/ E, D/F and D/E take a 4 3/4¨ square from both fabrics sets.
•Place right sides together. Draw two diagonal lines on the back of your squares to form an X. Sew on both sides of the diagonal lines at 1/4" .

•Next cut on both diagonal lines that you drew.
•Then cut squares vertically in half and horizontally in half.
•You will now have 8 B/E, D/F, and D/E HST's. Trim your HST's to 2" !
•To create the next top and bottom rows sew a D/F HST to each side of a flying geese unit.

•Sew these rows to the top and bottom of your center unit.
•To create your next side rows sew the following pieces together:
•B - D/F - flying geese -D/F -B
•Sew two of these rows watching for the orientation and placement of your HST’s.
•To create your next top and bottom rows sew the following pieces together:
• B/E - D/E - strip from Fabric E -B/E -D/E
•Sew these rows to the top and bottom of your unit.
•. To create your last side rows sew two rows just like the previous two rows and sew a 2" square from Fabric E to each side of the row.
•Sew your rows to the sides of your block and your Double Tulip Block is complete!
•Sew these rows to the sides of your unit.
