Page 3: Double page spread

The Double spread page of this magazine features Carrie Underwood who is a country singer and actress along with being a winner of American idol. The image is a Close up and the model is shown sideways and making eye contact with the camera to give the audience a more friendly look. The imperfection in the main image is that part of the head of the model is out of the frame and it looks quite improper that a part of the model’s head is cut.The main image is set on a basic grey background which shows that the emphasize is on the model hence to make the model more noticeable.

Anchoring text/Star name

The Title of the Anchoring text is the Star name of the model “Carrie Underwood” and a accompanying line “My inspiration”.

The Typeface of the Star name is somewhat different than the associated line. It is in a larger font and in Light golden color to create distinction with the other line and to show the emphasize that has been made on the Star Name. The supplementary line gives us an overview of what the double spread page article is about. The distinct color scheme also shows the color theme that has been used in the double page spread.

Pull Quote

A pull quote is present directly above the column article. A pull quote is something that is pulled out and is quoted by the person on whom the double spread page article is about. It also shows a idea about what the column article is about.

Drop Capital

A most common convention of the double spread page is the Drop Capital. It is the first letter of the first word of the article and is in a larger font. Most of the time in a different color to draw the eye of the reader and to mark the beginning of the main column article. In this the color is Golden while the rest of the text is in white.

Body Article/Columns/Separator

The body article is separated into two columns by a separator. This gives the article a enhanced look and makes it easier for the reader to read. This refers to the main image as it explains about what the main image is about. In this case the column article is about Carrie Underwood, and about her music and how it was her last resort.

Main image is a close up shot of Wiz Khalifa blowing smoke with a very unimpressed facial expression. The image shows him wearing a yellow cap. His initials in bold will catch the readers attention, when spanning to the right after looking at the main image.

Main heading

The main heading are his initials, which every fan would know of. The main heading is written with a decorative font, using the black and yellow color scheme. The W and a small portion of the K is written with black and then the rest of the letter K is finished off in yellow

Columns/ language

1. The double page spread only has two columns of text2. . Once again a font color theme of black and yellow

can be seen being used. I feel this makes the writing more peaceful

3. There are no kickers or subheadings that can be seen. The language used in the title gives us an image of the artist straightaway, reminding us about his actions.

Page 11: Double page spread

This double page spread has a simple color scheme but still includes elements of the color used in the photo . The main image which is of Bruno Mars shows that he has a lot of power and him leaning on the speaker may imply him taking over the music world.

Summary given before the interview starts, so reader can be aware of what's coming. This may lead to the reader changing his mind after reading the text.

This double page spread is an interview conducted by

vibe magazine of Bruno. This can be shown by the text

going bold from normal depending on if its the

interviewers question or Bruno’s answer.

Bruno is dressed smartly, and the background is plain which represents him just fine. His name only appears on the opposite page that shows that his face is recognizable and that no text is needed to indicate that its him.
